All these references to Janie’s non appearance at Legend’s on the Sunday are getting tiresome. What it boils down to is the fact that some of us know why, some of us don’t, others of us think we do but actually don’t. Those that do know aren’t saying. But does it matter? If the owner wanted us to know you can be sure that the information would be out by now. Let it drop. By the way I don’t know and couldn’t really care less, I was more than satisfied with what was at Legends on the Sunday.

Now, back to ‘One of our aircraft is missing’. A cracking film and I’m delighted it’s being shown again. It is a good portrayal of the air war and in particular the efforts of Resistance movements to return downed airmen.

There are so many to choose from…….

The first sight of the Vintage Pair at Old Warden, the first time I saw and heard the BBMF, an RAF Phantom rocketing across the railway line at Cosford, The look of awe on my mom’s face the first time she saw the Vulcan.

But the best, and one I was too young and stupid to take full advantage of, was when I tried to comfort a very upset ball gunner after we had looked round Sally B. He told me he was crying with sheer joy at being reunited with the type wich saw him through his tour, and with sadness at the memory of his best friend being literally hosed out of the tail turret. I’d give up all the other memories just to be able to spend an hour with that guy now.

No, let’s start with Toby Studebaker USMC (Ret.) If he were not trying to lure young girls through the internet this incident would have not occurred. It is now being said that on examination his PC contained disturbing pornographic images of children. What 31 year old in their right mind would ever consider embarking on a relationship with a 12 year old? While a 12 year old who might feel they are lacking affection and self esteem might easily be led into an inappropriate relationship with an adult. Remember she was travelling on her own passport which would clearly give her age.

Now, we’ll consider the parents. And yes, it would seem to me they should bear a considerable share of the blame. Letting their daughter use the internet unsupervised for up to 11 hours at a time strikes me as more than a little odd. A 12 year old spending that much time isolated from their peers should be a clear indicator that something isn’t right. British Police have said that a relationship did take place between them. It’s a matter of waiting now to see what form that relationship took before charges are finalised.
