    David,

showing my ignorance here but is the P111 the yellow a/c parked by the Vulcan? If it is the photograph I took was useless. However, it appears to be in good clean condition. I’ll post a few more photos.

I think the point is that despite Bush’s war on terrorism it will never be stopped while people are prepared to die carrying out these attacks. It’s a self-perpetuating situation fanned by the myth of martyrdom.

    Steve.

Congratulations on your century. Not exactly anything new for an Australian though is it? :p

Guys, don’t understand the problem re pictures. I’m on a dial-up connection and even a page of pictures as in some other threads still opens in 10 to 20 seconds. Personally, I don’t think broadband would be of that much benefit to me. I can do other things with the £15 a month price difference.

Well, What can one say? Other than that looks horrible/terrible/disgusting/incongruous/cheap/tacky* (delete as applicable). The silver looks like something out of a Halford’s can and the blue reminds me of the horrible blue worn by the Patrouille de France.

But still….. It is a Sea Vixen, our only airworthy example. And as such I will watch it and cherish it. I will also hope that one day it might be returned to an authentic scheme. I will also express gratitude too that Red Bull have sponsored the machine. That through thir good offices I can still see it in the air. Perhaps the garish colour scheme is more than compensated for by that. I hope the deal is mutually beneficient to both parties.

    Snapper.

Thought you might be interested to know that Fighter Command Losses indicate that Sgt. Smith was shot down by a fighter rather than flak. Also indicates F/Lt Lovell’s brither sadly died in a flying accident.

I would assume it is a local ‘modification’, probably to keep them ‘together’ as they died on the same operation.

Next time you visit Cosford why not go back through Cannock. There is the Commonwealth War Cemetery on the Chase. Predominantly containing Great War burials it is a serene and tranquil place. Right next to it is the Deutsches Soldatenfriedhof or German Military Cemetery. This is an altogether darker place due to the trees and the planting which is apparently reminiscent of Bavaria. No less tranquil, you will find many of the German airmen killed during the Battle of Britain and after buried there.

I like those. The backgrounds are stunning and certainly add something to the image.
