    Perhaps it is you who is being disrespectful? You openly admit you cannot afford to sponsor the aircraft and I presume Red Bull are paying considerable amounts of money to keep the aircraft in the air. Simply put, it doesn’t really matter what you or I think on this matter. It is a fait accompli and it’s not going to change because some people think the aircraft would look better in a navy scheme. Red Bull aren’t doing this just for the purists. The happy side effect is a Sea Vixen on the airshow circuit.

    Personally, I don’t like it, I think, from first viewing, it’s a horrible scheme. But unless I can pay for an alternative there’s not much anyone can do other than enjoy having a Sea Vixen in the air. Unlike Philo, I will watch it, and admire the aircraft for what it is. Deep down there may be a tinge of regret at the clothes she now wears but she is still a beautiful machine.

    Think of whom you consider to be the most beautiful woman in the world. She walks towards you dressed in bin liners. Isn’t she still the same woman underneath? Are we really that shallow as to say that because the Sea Vixen wears a scheme we don’t approve of she’s no longer worthy of our consideration?

    Martin, if you look closely you’ll find that it was the BA flight which turned left into the path of the CSA aircraft on go-around. I would imagine it is fine for departing a/c to turn left, just that nobody told him that an aircraft was overflying the landing runway. One would imagine that is one of the benefits of parallel runways. There should never be a conflict between arriving and departing aircraft.

    As to the programme itself I thought it was very well thought out and executed. Another rail disaster is a foregone conclusion due to the state of the rail infrastructure in the UK. It is therefore conceivable that rail staff would strike in an attempt to get safety reviewed and improved. As for the roads? I think we’ve probably already come a lot closer to that situation than many people realise. The snowbound cars on the M11? I’ve been stuck on the M6 for up to five hours before now. All it takes is for a series of accidents to block certain arterial routes and the rest will follow on naturally.

    A collision over London? I can only imagine that that is all too possible given increasing traffic and controller’s workloads. Does anyone know whether the mention od “Carrie’s Incident” relates to a real event? If so that is a wake up call which apparently hasn’t been heeded.

    So Wing Commander Warburton receives his final honour. It is comforting to know that people still care enough about those who have fallen to see them honoured in this way, particularly after sixty years have passed.
