I know nothing about the technology side of how the forum operates. I would doubt that the webmaster would need a reminder to show him AFM is down, surely it will be instantaneously obvious the moment he tries to log on.

I don’t really know but I would imagine that speed of preparation also became a factor, particularly when accidental damage or that caused by enemy action was brequiring repair. Hence Lancman’s comment about S-Sugar? Also, D-Day markings or invasion stripes were applied very hurriedly and there are huge differences in the way they were applied. Some were painted very neatly while others almost appear to have been applied very haphazardly, poor demarcation and also being applied none too straight.

Do you really think that replicating the AFM error message everytime it goes down is of any practical use? Or is it just a sly attempt to get people to move over to ACIG?

Someone has already said it will get fixed when it gets fixed and like they said, it is, after all, a free resource. And a damn good one at that. I think it was Ja Worsley (correct me if I’m wrong) who suggested that a ‘crisis’ line was needed to inform the webmaster when one of the forums went down so it could be fixed straight away. It might be annoying, it may be considered a nuisance, but it is hardly a crisis.

The webmaster does a good job here, so I’m sure we shouldn’t begrudge him a weekend off.

I used to work with a guy who bought the most expensive engagement ring you could imagine… It cost around 50p and was made by plaiting two strands of string in the colours of their birth stones. He told her it symbolised the intertwining of their lives and he left a loose strand about four inches long which he said represented their future. He did this in front of a big crowd at someone’s retirement party. Linda really seemed overwhelmed and instantly agreed to marry him. He then gave her a jewellery box which contained a car key. He’d spent the money he would have used on a ring on a car which was what was really needed.

Strange to say, they have now been married for twenty one years, have one child at University and another who leaves school next year. Every five years he makes her another ring out of string and she still drives the same car….

Of course you would. If the torch is fixed to the object which is travelling at the speed of light, the beam would still shine ahead the same distance. Wouldn’t it? Another question might be would you be able to see where you had been?

Physics never was a strong point, unless you’re using the term in the context of laxatives, in which case, I used to be a bit of an expert.

I’m getting a headache now….
