In Snakeyes with Nicolas Cage and Gary Sinise, Gary Sinises’ character makes reference to the sinking of that American frigate which was struck by Iraqi missiles, and makes a luidcrous claim that it was hit by a SCUD! In fact, it was hit by two Exocets, but I guess the Amercian audience wouldn’t know the difference.

Not to mention, how many average Americans would know what an exocet is, let alone the difference between them?

Okeydoke, and the engines that this report mentioned are for the IJT? When is the IJT coming into service?

    I won’t even mention “Hot Shots”… Ok, I did 😀

BTW, I could see a part of a fuselage used in “the movie” in a californian salvage yard… Aswell as “USS REPRIESAL” equipment used in the JAG shows. Incredible all you can find in the desert !

Oh yeah, Hot shots had Charlie Sheen too, right? What a great Top Gun spoof.

Speaking of Top Gun, how about the Mig-28s that were really F-5s.

So the original Kaveri is still on track to be finished, while they use 40 GE engines in the interim?

The Japanese thought the same about F16… Boy they were wrong cause it was bottum again… And even more cash… So why LCA2?

Because the amount of experience you get from working out the bugs in an indigenous project is unparalleled.

I’d have to say the Airplane! comedic movies directed by the Zucker brothers, and starring Charlie Sheen. Now there was some slapstick comedy and STUPID scenes that were hilarious. If you like laughing at fart jokes, then that’s the movie for you.

Or like the KC-130 in the movie Air Force One that blew up. 🙂

Can you grab a parachute and jump out one of the emergency escape hatches?

So is the original indigenous Kaveri going to be ditched in favor of locally producing an AL-31F type engine say with some indigenous parts, and renamed the Kaveri, or are they buying interim engines while they work on getting ht eoriginal Kaveri up to spec?

I don’t think you can make the missile much bigger than before due to real estate premiums on the ship. Perhaps a new mix of propellants.

I’m certain that buying Yakolev would allow them to market the -130.

    Acquisitive Irkut

Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut Corp. has taken a majority share in the Yakovlev Design Bureau with a 75.5% stake in the company. Irkut comprises the Irkutsk aircraft production site, along with Beriev, and avionics companies. The acquisition of Yakovlev will provide Irkut with more design resources, as well as the former’s Yak-130 advanced jet trainer program. Yak is also involved in design and development of unmanned aerial vehicles, which Irkut identifies as a growth area.

Here’s the picture from Pinkov. I had no idea so much of the ship was completed already!
