That’s a really large antenna- slightly smaller than the Pero diameter on overscan’s site.

OK, Huitong just said it was a An-24.

Since I can’t seem to bring up the page about the An-24, I’ll just use the Y-7 dimensions to estimate, since they’re close copies anyhow.

The nosewheel diameter on the Y-7 is 700mm, so if we follow the same rough calculations as before, it turns out that I get a similar number! ~ 1020mm for the KLJ-3 radar size!

The radar diameter is about 7/10 of the nosecone diameter.

If it’s a Y-8, here’s what I estimated.

According to JAWA, the nose wheel tyre diameter is 900mm, so I used this to scale (I hope) line drawing to estimate the nose cone.

The nose cone is ~ of size (1.6*900mm) = 1440mm.

Then, given that, I estimated the diameter of the KLJ-3 radar, which is quite large, about 1020mm! So, probably closer to 980mm still.

Can anyone tell me if this radar testbed for the KLJ-3 is a Y-7 or Y-8?
