Well, I copied this from the “just a nice pic” thread ..
providing this is not a photoshopped image .. what is this I see? rivets and square faced panels on production examples of the F-22? …

I still don’t understand why the 34 needs wing fences and the other variants do not. The layout is virtually identical.
I never quite got the fascination with the 1.44.
Too little, too late, uninspiring and disappointing… Personally I think it is like an XF103-F2 or similar…
Not sure why everyone thinks it’s the bomb …
in the entire F-35 discussion …
It’s not “to be VLO you don’t emit” that makes you effective, it’s controlling your emissions. This is where careful design, AESA radars, and most importantly, narrow-beam datalinks come into play.
Btw, based on publicly available data, low band radars increase a VLO airframe by about 10dbm. Low band radar is by no means a way of making your advantage “fade away”. Besides, if it makes it harder for a VLO airframe to approach, what do you think it will do to a 4th gen jet?
A VLO airframe will always have an advantage because anything you use to detect it will make 4th gen jets even more vulnerable.
There is an amazing assumption here that missiles from the F-35 will be 100% leathal, that the 4th gen planes will not detect a missile launch and that LPI radars only work one way.
Thanks a lot !
well the fact that it seems to have an EODAS (type of thing) may mean it is meant as a strike fighter with less emphasis on agility.
It might be that the canards are there to ensure supersonic ability/agility and not in post-stall dogfighting
just saying…
If all the planes are armed with HOBS weapons what difference does it make?
With the exception on a guns only fight any WVR fight with these weapons will be a wash.
Given enough time and enough tries planes with high agility will potentially find a move that maximises their chances of evading a HOBS weapon. Planes with low agility have none.
The rudder paint scheme is a little bit different.
Also, there’s no cheek radar antennae provisions any more.
No behind-cockpit EODAS ball. No corner reflector either.
There’s also some probes/protrusions missing.
What else, Berkut?
Corner reflector………….?
Every deal Greece made after 1980 for aircraft. All were overpriced and ill conceived.
Yup, and deff not BS. The info is not from himself, he got it from someone else, will detail it more in PM. And it is just waaaaay too detailed to be BS.
Which seems to reinforce the belief that the main problem is not Russian ideas and concepts but manufacturing processes and culture.
….
Damn that plane looks good. It looks like a race car amongst sedans..
I don’t believe its nationalism to describe what a country is good at and what it isn’t.
The U.S. sucks at diesel sub tech. Does that mean I’m anti American? Msphere and I are just having a friendly sparring match. He tripped and fell, thats all :-p
I think the Russians are doing just fine in radars. It is other areas that they are not doing so well. Material and manufacturing for example (compared to the west always).
Also with so many processor manufacturers out there, they do not need to have their own processor fabs.
I think you are deluded if you are thinking the Russians are not innovators. All thinks considered they have done very well and in many instances better than the west.
HOJ mod isnt magic. It probable works quite well against old jammers but against new ones it efficiency is probable very low.
i’m not entirely sure you could have a trully LPI jammer. Jammers have to “overpower” the receiver, even if you make a white noise type jammer, one would still be able to find which direction the signal is stronger from.
Need to think this through though
Thanks, yeah..
looked for a YF-22 close up but couldn’t find one. I’ll accept your view, it makes sense.
Me neither.. :eagerness: But I think some drawings already were posted here.. by Paralay, IIRC..
I gave it a go with MSpaint ( I know, I know …) it kinda shows my age.
Well it’s not any good but it gives you an idea.
I used the port missile on the port bay to keep things closer to perspective.

Also ..why aren’t these two saw toothed like the bays? Their surface is part of the surface structure, isn’t that sensible that they would be sawtoothed?
