Somebody, somewhere is making a pan load of money out of this event.
I’m curious as to who you think this individual is that is supposedly “making a pan load of money out of this event”.
Many people are happy to spend four times the same amount or more to watch 22 overpaid prima donnas prancing around a field for 90 minutes trying to kick a ball without falling over too obviously. Or a bunch of geriatric rockers howling tunelessly for an hour or so.
I don’t believe that the likes of Shuttleworth, RIAT, Farnborugh and many other venues offer a senior discount, so why is it ‘an absolute disgrace’ that Duxford do not?
In fact quite the opposite, it is a fair distance from any major road, unlike Manston.
That was exactly Charlie’s point, that Lydd has no advantage over Manston in this area, as Lydd has no good road connections.
I visited Manson at the weekend to see the Spitfire & Hurricane and Station History museums. It was quite a sad sight looking across at the deserted terminal building with a few vehicles parked forlornly in front of it on what used to be the live side. 🙁
I have also read it’s stopping at Prestwick? Would make sense.
There is even a map on their website showing the routing (directly from Iceland to Coningsby), so I’d suggest you might be quite lonely if you are thinking of making the trip to watch it arrive in Scotland. 🙂
Going slightly OT here, but here is the sad story of what happened to Jeff Pearson’s business in California. Jeff is a super guy who flies a nice Cessna 195 out of Chino.

No mention of Scotland. Sorry.
