I’ve never seen veterans being driven along the runway at Duxford. I understand that during airshows they generally like to keep it clear for all the aeroplanes taking off and landing!

Perhaps it is a new initiative so that the freeloaders in the field get to see them too?

Funnily enough, every other DC-3 operator in Europe seems to have negotiated the rule changes and kept on flying passengers without escape slides and weather radar and all the other supposedly ‘mandatory’ items mentioned in the scare stories put around at the time.

The Tristar (ZD948) was on it’s last operational flight, prior to going to Cambridge to meet it’s end.

The final 6 TriStars went to Bruntingthorpe, not Cambridge. There is talk of a buyer in the US being interested in them.

I would suggest that the identities of certain of the Canadian Hurricanes are a can of worms that is best left unopened.
