Chino I think. There are some non-flying replicas in the racing hangar at Planes of Fame.
What happened to this aircraft?
The tail fell off. 🙁

There was a replica at the California Antique Aircraft Museum in San Martin during September 2000.
It may still be there.

That’s the Wathen one above. It has been variously based at Flabob, San Martin and Holister in recent years. It is presently at Flabob.

Did this Varsity go direct to Don Selway / DAS or was it via IWM? I thought Don Selway originally sourced the Met Flight Varsity and they got exchanged?

Sadly the latest update on his condition, as posted by Kermit Weeks on his Facebook page, does not sound so positive.
Wasn’t the beacon idea concocted under the previous regime at the RAF Museum?
Poor old Varsity! I have happy memories of flights in it during the late-70s and early-80s, including a weekend away at Finningley for their Battle of Britain airshow in 1980.
Sadly I have to agree that the chances of seeing it fly again are zero. I believe it was grounded due to problems with the insulation breaking down in the mags, and that was nearly 30 years ago now.
Apart from the French Noratlas, are there any Hercules engines still operational these days?
