Meteors don’t seem to fare too well in preservation in some cases. An RAF gate guard F.8 (Lyneham?) was chopped up in the 80s, and there is still a derelict, privately-owned T.7 sitting dismantled over the North side at Duxford
Equally, there have been some terrible musical choices.
Whilst I wouldn’t go as far as to call it ‘terrible’, the vocal version of Bolero used to accompany Anna Walker’s otherwise excellent Jungmann solo last weekend was, quite frankly, bizarre.
Apparently there has been a law passed making it compulsory that, every time a Huey displays at an airshow anywhere in the world, Wagner’s ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ has to be played at full blast over the PA system.
If you like your aeroplanes with music there are plenty of ‘Flying Proms’ events to chose from (although most only seem to last one or two years before going bust!)
