I don’t think that the registration letters are sloped, it is just an illusion due to the distinctive razorback fuselage profile of the ‘Airknocker’. I’m reliably informed, however, that the go-faster stripes add at least 3mph to the top speed! πŸ™‚

Is that necessarily a bad thing, considering what they did to the Catalina?

Nice to see a BA Swallow restored to the register last week after spending the last 65 years in Ireland

One of the things that stood out for me was his complete enthusiasm and excitement to be there, he was absolutely thrilled on the Sunday to see a Lysander fly for the first time (I’m sure you can identify with that JDK!) and to witness the Balbo. His obvious knowledge of the subject was clear to all who listened. And yes Dave, I did catch the mention of your forum too.

I seem to be in a minority here as I rather like M.Chabbert’s unique take on things, and I missed his Gallic tones this year. To me it is all part of the overall Flying Legends experience. Having said that a change now and again is no bad thing, and Trevor and Peter did a really great job. As someone has previously noted though, a quick mention of who was flying what would have been most welcome. Hopefully things will be back to normal next year and Bernard will be available, things just weren’t quite the same without a mention of ‘mechanical sparrows’ and how the French won the Battle of Britain by softening up the Luftwaffe beforehand! πŸ™‚

Will we see a Blenheim next year?!

Surely you didn’t miss it today? Smoke and noise and turning propeller blades – a wonderful sight and sound! πŸ™‚

I suspect it was a familiarity thing, the aeroplane is only flown once every few years at Chino, and always from a hard surface. Why introduce an unknown variable into the equation when you have a perfectly good hard runway available?

Very nice indeed. David, it looks as though you got plenty of exercise roaming around the airfield this afternoon. And Steve, great to see the P-26 starting procedure up-close. It was lovely to see Messrs Grey and Hinton Jr flying together in the Gladiator and Spitfire this evening, a wonderful sight and sound! πŸ™‚

A nice addition! I need to make another trip, it has been a while since I last visited.

You missed quite a lot Alan!

The Connie duly arrived, as did the MkXVIII Spitfire, the RNHF Sea Fury and one of the Biggin Hill Spitfires.

Oh, and the newly-reengined Buchon was one of quite a number of test flights made late on.

    Looking good for the weekend!

I doubt it, as the OP specifically mentioned that it is a turbine type.

I believe it is being built up by the MΓ©morial Flight from a kit of TVAL parts.
