    Nice build!

I’ve got the Airfix TSR2 with resin updates but missed the updates and weapons offered by ones of the modelling magazines, or I’d have bought more.

I’m concentrating on 1/144 kits and got two each of the Pit Road and Wolfmark kits, so I can make 4 ‘speculative versions’, one of which will be a Wild Weasel – I am even thinking of painting it in the Russian Wild Weasel camouflage!

Thanks for your contribution to this thread.

Both ‘Serve’ and ‘RN Phantom’ are correct about costs but twice UK governments have cancelled aircraft for a short term gain (sadly the UK thinks only in the short term).

The damage to the overall UK economy and in the long run finally ‘killing off’ an expanded UK aircraft industry was never considered and that has cost the UK more than the investment in aircraft – especially as the aircraft promised as replacements never lived up to their promise within the time span allotted..

The first cancellation was in the 1950’s by the Conservatives even though the cancelled aircraft DID have LARGE order books and were in advance of the USA and the USSR (as it was) and – of course the second was the Labour cancellation of TSR2, the supersonic VTOL aircraft and STOL 4 engined logistics aircraft. At the time, with no hindsight, it was clearly stated F-111 would not fill our requirements in the time span promised, which was true and then in panic, because of the destruction in the industry caused by the cancelletions, the government wasted more millions/billions to convert Phantoms, which were not as good as the originals and for good measure we then had to buy F-4J’s anyway!!!

The Bucanner was an excellent world beating aircraft and both services should have used it, but it was never intended to fill the TSR2 – as an American Airforce general said NATO, INCLUDING the USA, should have bought TSR2, this would have reduced cost and rapidly developed the aircraft’s mission role but as usual politics got in the way.

Anyway – what other weapons do you all think it could carry/could have carried!!!

Thanks for all your replies. I thought about the Bucaneer just after I sent the thread.
At low level – faster than a Tornado, more comfortable than a Tornado and able to carry far more than a Tornado, but what do we do – scrap it!!

Thanks for also for the fabulous photographs of the built up models, they were most excellent!1

    Thanks to Lonevolk

    You are correct.

I have found a reference on WARFARE.RU to a Kh-29L = AS-14b Kedge, but I am unable to find an image!!

What I am trying to find is an image for a Kh-25MP, which I have also read is referred to as Kh-27

    Russian ARM missiles

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread!

Does anyone have an image/picture of a Kh-29MP AS-14 Krdge. I’ve trawled the web and can many images of various missles but not this one.

It seems to me the Russian planners have equipped many more different aircraft to carry out Wild Weasel missions than the West; does this seem correct?

    Russian Wild Weasels

I am a new member, just starting a kit collection based on Wild Weasels (to have a break from Fw190’s!), and luckily found this thread – more by luck than intent!!

Can anyone tell me what the maximum Wild Weasel weapon load would be on a Su-32FN and a Su-30MKI.

Are there any other Russian Wild Weasel aircraft? There is a lot of information regarding the West not so much the Russian side.

    Thanks to all and regards,

    weinace:)
