Hi Bruce and David,
Thanks for the replies, that was quick as usual. I have no pics unfortunately (can’t take them while rummaging through the heaps and heaps of wreckage, strangely relatively few wooden bits mostly wingspar and splinters but the metal is in excellent condition but due the the clay soil even the Merlins were smashed beyond recognition with only the cilinder banks being recognizable.
Bruce any pics showing the pickup system under the wing?
Cheers

Nice pics,
A 0/400 is another gap to be filled , if a Vimy can be built, so can be this famous and important HP type. but then again I am biased of course

Oh if only, in Clive du Cross’ book he mentions that he was asked to
build a flyable Wellinton using DC3 wings on a new build fuselage.

How about: where are the missing Indian Tempests/
Myth or fact. Did Doug Arnold destroy several airframes?

Fantastic sight peter,
Didn’t know any Tallboys reached Canada, any info on
it’s whereabouts?
Now to crank up the other two engines

Blasphemy, there is no such thing as a covered waggon on a Lancaster
The Halifax has one though:dev2:
Why was the pigeon lake lancaster fuselage reduced to spares?

Interesting, In an article in flypast about exavation work on freeman field a photograph showed a large elliptical radiator in one of the pits which could only have been MN235’s radiator then?
IIRC the current radiator was a cut down lorry item and the spinner was welded together using Hasting items.
Any more gen about this aircrafts restoration during the sixties?
Tempest or Typhoon, bothe very similar so still on topic/:)

So that makes three Mk V’s then?
Hmm

I don’t have the means (space) to save this airframe unfortunately as the Meteor is an import aircraft for Dutch historic aviation. Although there are some Meteors preserved in our country, it’s a pity that it has appeared on ebay.
This aircraft used to guard the base at Soesterberg, strange that it is being sold by a private idividual. Being Fokker-built it has no historical value for the UK IMHO. Fouga, May I ask why importing a corroded Meteor when a Belgian Meteor is corroding away on a pole atop the Dinand citadel?
Just curious
