My Dad tells me that he flew (as a passenger) in the Chipmunk’s maiden delivery flight to the RAF while he was doing his National Service in around 1948?? He was serving in a ferry squadron.
BTW superb photos Alex.

Thank you very much. All disappointing news I’m sure but it could have been very much worse.
They’ll be done when they are done and they will look and sound wonderful when they are.
I’ll second both those sentiments

Hi Cargomaster
Was the super photo of the B-50 refuelling some USAF a/c taken at Liverpool Speke in the 50s. I remember seeing a similar thing at a display at appro 500ft (over the crowd) at Speke??.
No, wethersfield 1963

Just found an old note that shows the B-50 belonged to the 420th ARS at Sculthorpe-unless anyone knows otherwise?

Thanks Mark – credit and copyright on that pic goes to my Dad! Pic taken at Wethersfield Open Day in 1963. Same unit by the looks of the markings -do you know which and from where perchance?

Here’s a B-50 doing what it was designed for! Apologies if I’ve posted this before…
More great shots – thanks for posting

I just get a terrible sense of deja vu after the shambles at Duxford last week.
Let’s all hope this isn’t setting a pattern for the season.

I paid £35 last year and got the lens back within about a week or so.

Although I had a big whinge about the traffic management, I do feel a bit better now I’ve had a bit of time to look through the pics….
PS Yes, the Nimrod really did do that wingover 😀
Stunning photos Franck 🙂
What camera and lens do you use?

I’ve posted a virtually identical shot of the Spit starting up on this forum at the time! One of my all time favourites too 😎

Spooky – I was only thinking about that Prentice a day or two ago. My train to work takes me past there every day and I haven’t noticed the Prentice for years. I’d be interested to know how long it is since it disappeared.

Somewhere at home I’ve got couple of photos of them. I’ll try to find and then post them.
