problem is, 190 is probably gonna get screwed by Bombardier C-110 and C-130 that was just approved by its board.
u got that rite, pal.
the f-2 is as expensive as a freakin typhoon or f-22. while providing possibly below-j-10 performance. and anyhow, why do u want to spend so much money to soap up a design that is due for retirement in 2020 is a wonder to me.
(not that f-35 is that great either. a replacement aircraft that is actually worse than the aircraft its intended to replace.)
if i was the Ministry of Industry etc. i would have asked for a license of rafale or j-10. makes much better sense.
i think the japanese ultimately have to solve the problem fo production costs. its simply ridiculous.they seem to do pretty well on cars, y cant they be efficient on planes.
plus, afganistan occupies a strategic location on the western border of china, US’ potential arch-enemy.
rocky, read canpark’s post CAREFULLY. its logic: afgan election was rigged BECAUSE the puppet GOVERNMENT and puppet GOVERNMENT alone would be of interest to US cuz theres no oil etc., where as in iraq the scrapping of foreign ownership regulations, auctioning of oil rights, etc. already SECURED US interest, so a pupper GOVERNMENT isnt much of a concern to US>
u noe, China Airlines really should change their name now. Every time, i get China International Airlines (mainland) and confuse it wif China Airlines (taiwan island). its very annoying, especially when u have to ask ur travel agent to repeat the name of the airlines over and over. maybe it should be like Formosa Airways or Taiwan Airlines or something.
thing is though, it certainly doesn’t look like PLAAF is gonna drop the J-7G, especially when its so cheap and effective. Hey, there has been reports of J-7G beating Su-27s in manoeuverability, and it has been agreed by most ppl that it has a similar level of manoeuverability to the earlier F-16s at least. In reality, the only drawback is range and medium-range missiles capablity. However, if this plane is used over Taiwan Strait, you dunt need much range anyways. Plus, there has been rumours, keeping in mind only rumours, that J-7G is medium-range missiles capable.
J-8B/D is a different story. The story is pretty bad at the very start, and manoeuberability has never been credible. In my opinion, J-10 could completely overwhelm J-8B/D in performance, and yet, its not that more expensive than the former.
Just curious: could someone tell me about the maintenance dimension of the Harrier? (like say if its rugged and if its easy or hard to maintain. Say for example, vietnam has 12 Su-27s, but i bet a third of them would be sitting in the hanger normally cuz they are so hard to maintain and lack of spares make it worse.)
So, would it be possible (well not really a question of possiility, but i mean like advisable, say china could have Su-27s, but it dunt really do much for the vietnamese) for a country like peru or ecuador or sumthing to have Harriers.
