and last before war Avia B-135 by František Novotný, 1938

That’s fabulous – thanks for letting us see those photos.
Could you tell us a little more about it if possible?
Roger Smith.
Rumcajs,
Was the original BH-5 closely related to the BH-9 as pictured here – they look almost identical?
These are photos I took (and posted on the forum) back in Oct 2005, following a visit to the Technical Museum in Prague.

Avia BH-5 is one of the monoplane contruction line of famous Czech designers Pavel BeneÅ¡ and Miroslav Hajn – so BH sign. The first was BH-1 experimental from 1920, and more BH-3 – fighter for Czechoslovak Air Force from 1921, only one prototype BH-4 (evolved BH-3), BH-5 from 1923, BH-9 1923/24, BH-11 from 1924 in several versions (a little different from BH-9), BH-10 single seater trainer from 1924, and small sporty BH-12 and BH-16 avietka, and last monoplane figter BH-19 from 1924. All these monoplane Avia´s planes were called “boska” (plural bosky) due to civilian sign L-BOSA on BH-5 of famous Czech acrobatic pilot Dr.Zdenek Lhota (the first Czechoslovak civilian mark was L-Bxxx, since 1930 “OK-xxx”)
In 1923 Zdenek Lhota flew with new and the first BH-5 L-BOSA to the Belgium to test the new plane during internatinal race of Belgian King Award (he had to fly over Germany without authorization – a lot of problems with German bureaucracy – so very adventurous fligt) and he won main two awards.
In 1923 Avia sent BH-5 with Lhota to show army chiefs during a military exercise, they were satisfied and ordered the plane with some small adjustment as Avia BH-9. BH-10 and BH-11 are evolutions of BH-5/9
