Prague, July 3 (CTK) – Largest Czech arms maker Aero Vodochody has a
chance its planes will return on foreign markets as Nigeria has shown
interest in the L-39 jet fighters made by the company, the Hospodarske
noviny daily says today.
“We have signed a contract to rebuild Nigeria’s entire fleet of the Czech L-39
military aircraft consisting of 21 planes,” Marek Dospiva, co-owner of
Aero’s owner Penta, told the paper.
Aero has succeeded in winning its first arms contract abroad after ten
years of vain efforts.
The company had started to prepare the contract already before its
privatisation. It is yet to complete talks with banks on its financing.
The L-39 Albatros aircraft is one of the most successful products in Aero’s
history. Aero exported around 3,000 L-39 planes in the last quarter of the
last century.
Aero is also about to sign a contract with the Indonesian Army for part of
Czech Air Force more than forty new-generation L-159A fighter jets, the
Hospodarske Noviny says.
Indonesia also wants to order Aero’s new two-seat training and light
combat aircraft L-159B, said Dospiva.
Penta, which took Aero over at the beginning of 2007, reckons above all
with boosting production of the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter in Aero which
makes up two-thirds of the company’s turnover.
Moreover, Penta plans to invest hundreds of millions of crowns in new
technologies. Aero plans to buy a plant to produce carbon fibres to raise
its chances for supplies to Boeing and Airbus.
“We would like to get among the top direct suppliers to these producers in
time,” Dospiva said. Aero already supplies parts for the Airbus 320, Airbus
340 and Boeing 767 aircraft.
Aero’s latest cooperation programme is the production of centreplanes for
the C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft for company Alenia
Aeronautica.
Penta also plans to open an international airport in Vodochody, some 15
kilometre north of Prague.
10.7.2007 deputies of minister of defence of Poland and the Czechlands Jacek Kotas and Martin Barták have negotiated about air force training centre in Deblin. They have talked about Polish serious interest to purchesed L-159B Albatros II for Polish training centre project or to use L-159B for possible Czech-Polish joint cooperation for air force training centre in Deblin. Experts of both ministries have started making dokuments for final decision, that was finnished in August or September 2007. Polish experts visit in Aero Vodochody is planned in short time.
😮 Woops! Sorry! I’m late for my answer, but it’s one of the best PS I’ve seen so far, congratulations! 😉

About Hind crash…. more photos

12.9.1985 crash of the Mi-24D of crew Tóth, Horák, Melíšek. After common hunt, some Cobra got the “hanging” regime across the border. The Czech and Slovak crew (Tóth is a Slovak, Horák and Melíšek are the Czechs) tried to copy the Cobra manouevre but due to – sorry I don´t know English terminology for that – leeward wind stream, too high flying level over see (it means over see in the Czech border mountains, it means too low flying level in too high mountains area) and the Hind weight contrary to Cobra, the mi-24D started to fall. The Pilot tried to push for speed the “overstrained” (or what in English) Hind, but too late. The Mi-24D started to fall 3m/s and rotate to the left around own axis. The Mi-24D has crased to the Poledník mountain, before the touch the land the technician made to open side door remembering similar crash some time ago. After crash technician had to hit the second pilot-gunner by hand during running away, because he ran in shock for help away, for help to injured pilot instantly. The pilot was injured by oxygen bottle hit. The situation was spooted by the Cobra crew all time and Czechoslovak military border snipers and observation border guard as well.
But it´s not all. One hour later (sic!) the other Hind was send to same place and got the same fatal situation, but they had higher flying level and better direction (even they got worse situation), so the second Hind pilot managed to run the Hind for save speed to the valley. The first Hind pilot had to get the pensioner for heath, and the crash meant a lot of restriction for helicopter part of air force…. – of cource – communistic way to resolve the problems, they didn´t know, similary to western enemies, anything about “second flying regime” (I don´t know how to translate that).
About Mi-4 and F-102 very soon
