The S-92 will be on tour in Europe and shown to several countries including Belgium, Germany and others.
The S-92 is being evaluated as SAR helicopter for the German navy instead of the MH 90.
XT stands for Extra Thrust. It has the same MTOW and range (131 300 pounds and 2200 nm) as baseline C130, but it shares the trust of C130ER, so it has a shorter takeoff distance.
Okay, thanks a lot, will the XT be certified for LCY operations ?
No, no more. They’ve been replaced by A-310s. They were flying with the Flugbereitschaft in KΓΆln-Bonn, If I’m not mistaken.
-Well, actually, you still have military 707 derivatives bermanently based on German soil: the NATO AWACS fleet is based at Geilenkirchen, some 100 km more north π –
The former Luftwaffe 707s were sold to the Nato, they are used as cargo and training aircraft.
Bombardier launched Cseries, with 60 frames sold to Lufthansa.
The specifications have been recently changed. The wingspan is 35,1 m now. There are 5 models: C110, C110ER, C130, C130XT and C130ER.
What does XT stand for ?
I guess the ER versions will be popular in the US and Canada as this might mean transcontinental range while LH as a 737 replacement likely will choose a lighter weight version for European and domestic flights.
Congratulations both Bombardier and LH. Always nice to see another airplane in the sky.
Interesting ! Would this be the first time that Germany and France, 2 NATO nations would be evaluating an in-service Russian system for their services ??
India too may be interested in buying limited numbers of Mi-26 upgraded helos..or upgrading its current fleet to the new standards..new engines and avionics would be very useful for this fascinating helo…
Germany was interested in the AN 70 for awhile.
Its a Saab 1993 9000 CE. Does anyone own one out there?
My dad used to drive a 1992 9000CE and before a 1986 9000I.
The 9000 CE was nice to drive but like all Saabs awful expencive in maintenance. My dad drove it for almost 10 years but it became an eletronical nightmare in the end. He sold it to a mechanic in 2001 or 2002.
A few weeks ago I saw it parked at a supermarket (I recognised the license plate so it is still driving)
My dad got a 9-3 instead which is now replaced by a X-type Diesel.

For me the best military aircraft would be the F-104 and F-4 Phantom II.
The F-4 Phantom because as Schorsch has already said was the most capable and versatile aircraft of its time and basically the first multi-role aircraft and the only fighter aircraft in service with either the USN, the USAF and the USMC.
Despite its age it still continue to serve its mission well with many airforces in the world.
The F-104, well, it is the most elegant aircraft there is it looks like a rocket !!
Thanks for report. I will be on VS 01 LHR-EWR April 2nd. Looking forward to fly the 747. Will be my first time on a Jumbo and the first time I fly VS.
Two years ago Lockheed Martin offered the Luftwaffe to lease 4 C-130J Hercules transporters untill the A400M is available. The leasing costs are rumored to be 40 Million Euros a year for all the aircraft.
The idea was rejected because of costs.
Most of my flights were in the late 80s, mid 90s. Over the last 10 years I was not flying that often. This year I was not flying at all.
Here is my list:
Dan Air: Bac1-11
Pan Am: A310, 727
Air Berlin:737-300, 737-400
Iberia: Dc 9, 727
Aviaco: Dc 9
British Airways: 757-200, 737-200
Aero Lloyd: MD 83
Green Air: TU 154
Air France: Canadair CRJ200
KLM: 737-400, A310-200
Lufthansa: 737-300/-400/-500, Airbus A310, A300-600, A320, A340-300
Condor: 757
Delta: 737-200, MD 88, 757, 767-300
Sabena: Avro RJ 85, A340
Easyjet: 737-700
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum – White D-25
Within the next 4 months I will fly BA A319 and VS 747-400 π
and hopefully also JetBlue A320 or NW DC 9 I have to see what I can get π
As much as I lament the great ‘Britannia’ brand, I actually prefer the thought of an integrated ‘Tui-Fly’ name to that of all the half made over airlines it took over.
As for the colour scheme, why not do a series of bright and vibrant colours for each airline, with the Tui-Fly text over the top… Thomson could be blue, Hapag, yellow… Other’s could be green, orange, salmon pink etc etc…
It would certainly be nice to see some colourful liveries in the skies again.
AFAIK they choose the yellow color because they have noticed that the blue aircraft was hard to spot on pictures in the TUI catalog showing the aircraft mostly in a clear blue sky.
The majority will apparently be B737srs a/c. There is a clause which states that they do not have to specify actual a/c type/version until 6mths prior to proposed delivery.
Would be good to know if really 787s are included.
. There must be a reason why the Aussies, the Canadians, the Luftwaffe, the Swedes, and just last week the Danes all look to be going for the C-17 rather than other options. Nope, even though its my tax payers money I will take the C-17’s thanks and just charter the Antonovs for the rare outsize stuff.
I only heard that the Luftwaffe was interested in acquiring some C130J but nothing about the C17 could you give me a link ?
According to a friend at TUI, they are ordering 738, 739’s and 772’s.
I would doubt that this order would contain any 777s. I do hope for the 787 and the 737-900ER though.
It is weird that neither TUI or Boeing have released yet what kind of arcraft have been orderd.
