Friday Afternoon Over Alton in Hampshire
2 fast jets heading towards Midhirst, one was a red and white JP, the other was? Both at around 2,000ft – NICE!
Confirmed as 22nd July 1968.
G-APPO was reduced to spares in August 1967.
Dining room! Doesn’t look very stable!
Do an eBay search for: Gyroscope From Shot Down Messerschmitt 110
How did a Lincoln end up as a glider box, no doubt an interesting tale?
Folk have paid a fortune to see her fly (and been disappointed), I sat in a field in Hampshire on Wednesday and witnessed her stunning display for nowt! Mind you, I guess I have contributed via the National lottery and direct pledges.
I stood watching her display and wondered if the money could have been put to better use? In my case watching her fly was an event I will remember forever, let us hope more get to see her and I can continue my avid affection!
Having spent many years trying to ‘grow up’ in Dunstable, one got quite blasé in respect to seeing ‘old’ gliders flying in the vicinity. I now live close to another well known gliding site and can testify that there are still many old gliders flying.
No doubt G-ASEA can remember a vintage gathering at Dunstable and they used a Tiger Moth (long after LGC retired theirs) to ariel tow? Thankfully the wind was easterly, so the Tiger was over the town regularly. My guess late 70’s or early 80’s?
I also remember LGC (London Gliding Club) having Tigers (just), but actually recall G-AWJJ better, the first plane I really saw and identified from there. Add to that, G-AYFE.
Folk on here moaning that a business close to our hearts is taking additional income by hiring out part of its facility!
More to follow when I have a spare moment.

Another one!

Another.
