13 years passed, found it included in aviadejavu.ru naming it as modification by a certain Mr. Elton J James.

Hi MM,
yes, your solution makes sense. But what does not make much is that the Brazilian Army Air Force sends aircraft to an exhibition of the Naval Air Force. Although, it is/was their business, not ours.
I tried to find a good picture of the LeO 253, but that proved unsuccessfull. This website:
https://www.passionair1940.fr/Aeronavale-1939-40/Aeronavale/Appareils/H…
contains one at all, but it is of low quality. It shows the LeO 253 had a solid nose.
You might well be right about the Avro 504s. If you already know which aircraft stand behind the LeO 253, you may tell us either.
Thank you, and best regards,
RT
Was identified on secretprojects.co.uk as “Avietika KPIR-5”.
Thank you for your interest.

Well, it looks like I did not read Wikipedia that carefully. Thank you Oracal.

Okay, Duggy1, I am going to store it as the Fairchild. Obviously I fall victim to some kind of optical effect that seems to produce a shorter lower wing.
Thank you.

Hi all,
Oracal’s hints with the turbine types lead to an aircraft named Frakes Aviation Turbo Cat. At least one version shows voluminous air intakes on the nose sides which correspond with my picture. So that it is. Thank you oracal.

Thank you FB. I see, and I wonder why nobody realized it yet, for it really looks attractive. Going to store it as “Wells ‘Thing to Come'”. 🙂

Hi MM,
wow, wonderful picture! Thank you for it and identifying the aircraft. I haven’t been at shu-aero’s for a while, I have to admit. A longer while… looks I need to go there when I can…
Thanks again, and best regards,
RT
Thank you Duggy for this link. So the flight instructor sits out. But for which reason? To easier bail out if the student pilot is learning too slowly? Although, jumping out from this position means almost inevitable contact with one, probably running, airscrew…
The link further suggests that the USB trainer was used for frontline service too… Has there been such a desperate need of aircraft within the VVS?
Thanks once more for every answer, and regards,
RT
Thank you Adrian and Duggy for informations and picture sources!

Runway23 got it. Thank you! Google search delivers a lot further pictures.

I was wondering about the name “2MR1” which seemed to be known by myself. So I searched my own picture collection for this. The result was I should blame people which decades ago produced name confusion (knowing it does not help).
What I already have are pictures like shown here: https://www.armedconflicts.com/Mitsubishi-2MR1-Type-10-1-C1M1-19968-12295-24335-33328-19978-20390-23519-26426-C1M1-t8631
The one above I shall store as “Mitsubishi Tobi”. Thanks for your interest.
