Or, put it down to the fact that Mother Nature still rules the world!

    .

Earlier in 2007, On the 7th Feb, i departed out of STN to NYO Stockholm with FR, Left the UK without fault on a cold morning.. it was around -5’c..

Landed in NYO in heavy snow which was not a problem, drove 180 miles West over to Varmland, a town called Karlstad in really heavy snow, (about 6 inch in 3 hours) which was not an issue and all local traffic around managed fine as expected.

Few photos below on the landing.. poor quality i know..

After speaking with family in the UK the following day, STN had got about an inch or 2 of snow and had closed for a few hours causing major issues for pax.

    See link below..
    http://news.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/2007/02/snow_forces_air.html

As we had just driven 180 Miles in heavy snow with no issues, we all began chatting about how the UK is unable to cope with a bit of snow compared to other Countries of the world who just dont panic and get on with it..

Below is a video from us driving out in Sweden… If we would have had this much snow the UK, the full UK will of stopped stop.. (yes, The car does have studded tires, but thats because they are prepared).

Anyway…a little off topic from the main thread, but this is a fine example that when mother nature calls… other countries do a lot better than us and have the infrastructure in place to cope with it all..

Ps… *ALLIANCE, we will have to do the trip again mate.

I was planning MAN to LCY return with VLM on the 14th for a Training course in the City…

I know these airports are not affected but there is always a knock on affect, may just go on the GNER the day before and return on the 14th via the GNER..

Bit of a shame as i was looking forward flying into LCY.

I was following the item and don’t think you can assume that E-Bay pulled it, the seller could have withdrawn it for some unknown reason.

As newforset says, when i posted above i meant that the seller looks like they have pulled it…

I think they may have had a private bid on it and settled outside of ebay for a decent price..

When i last checked it was only around the £2k mark..

i would think a private investor came in who did not want to be named.

    EDIT… @ 17:05

    Passenger Jet Crashes Near Kiev
    Updated:16:57, Sunday December 09, 2007

At least five people have been killed after a passenger plane crashed in the Ukraine.
The aircraft, which was on a chartered flight, came down as it was preparing to land at Kiev’s second largest airport.
The plane had been flying from the Czech Republic to Zhulyany airport just outside Ukraine’s capital.

The site is around 20 minutes drive from the city centre and is close to residential areas.

It is not known if there were any survivors.

An emergency ministry spokesman confirmed the crash but would give no further details.

    More follows…

its not just a model… its the full inside..

    see details below

THE sky’s the limit! For sale on eBay, a good-as-new 747 aircraft, one very careful owner.

The ultimate internet auction for aircraft enthusiasts is on the horizon, thanks to tiny Midland design consultancy DesignQ.

The Redditch firm is hoping to sell off a 40ft by 20ft 747 fuselage, built by its experts for global airline Cathay Pacific.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a 40-seater aircraft is being offered by DesignQ following completion of a major design project for the Hong Kong airline.

    Please see photos below…

No sign of it on ebay as yet..

Going back to one of the points above

And in this case, if the card reader was to break, I’m sure they’d comp the refreshments

Im sure they will have a few wireless card readers.. if the system breaks when its a different story.

I think its a good idea, as a whole as these days more and more of us perfer using plastic that cash..

If its the small change which is an issue, how about they just enforce a rule of any purchase above $15.00 or £10.00 has to be via Card..

That way the customer is able to use small change, wether its getting rid of it on a return leg, not wanting addtional banks charges on “nibbles” and the cabin crew will always have small change…. (unless everone uses notes!!)

Plus the on the onbard cash float will not be massive then??

    Thoughts??

I have flown with FR many times now AND never had an issue.

Yes, the staff are not the happiest most of the time and it is like getting on a bus, however the service they do provide, ie getting you from one place to another in time safely is a pretty good record.

In regards to leg room,, seat pitch, for a low cost airline its pretty good and the added bonus is no one can recline there seat which ensures you all have equal room!.

In regards to the smoking, a trigger alarm would of been activated on the deck… its not going to be a loud fire alarm @ 35,000ft… can you imagine the panic!

in regards to hand luggage, Its upto security and check in to stop you if you have too much stuff..

In regards to you saying theres a rule about one item……. just think of all the things you can purchase in duty free??? if you was only allowed one item these shops would not be able to trade as they do!!

I think your rant about FR does not include any real points to be honest,

    Cheers
