“With one plane short, Maistry says passengers should expect delays.”

But it does follow onto say the following..

With one plane short, Maistry says passengers should expect delays.

“We anticipate an hour delay and South African Airways apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers,” she said.

Therefore, It appears that knock on flights today will only be affected, which any airline would be if an aircraft goes tech until backup arrives.

hope this picture from the snowheads website brings a smile in sad times

Tell that to the staff and their families who will be affected by this! — and secondly… A plane going into a mountain?? what on earth…… thats another argument in itself which im not lowering myself to!

For what it’s worth, I don’t think there is much in the article. I bet they are still flying this time next year.

    — I wish they would of been flying next year.. but thats not the case now

Air Transat appear to fly there as well.

A quick search for random dates on Expedia brought up a Mexicana flight from London Gatwick to Mexico City and then onwards to Huatulco with Click Grupo (whoever they are?). The price was £630 per person.

Thanks for the info above above,

The connection via Mexico City could be one option at that price.

Its a shame FCA stopped doing the route, I wrote to First Choice (when it was that) and asked why the route had been dropped, which was due to flights only been 60 % full..

When we went with FCA the flight was only 50% full… its was great!

I thought most airlines only allow you to fly upto around the 35th week of pregnancy ??

(however… taking into account the above does not mention if the baby was early etc…)

So here’s a question…. If a airline policy states you can only fly upto 35th week of pregnancy, would you be liable for some costs or fined if you were 39 weeks gone and the plane had to divert due to an “Early Arrival” ??

    I just watched it,

I enjoyed it, I have used FR many times now, (around 30 flights in total) and always paid next to nothing for them with knowing how to do it cheap.

The fact is, its love or hate, but tonights been a great 30 minute advert for RYANAIR

Panic As Fumes Hit BA Jumbo Jet Cabin

    8:01am UK, Saturday July 11, 2009
Hundreds of people aboard a British Airways jet have been evacuated just before take-off after reports of smoke in the cabin.

The British Airways 747 on the tarmac at Phoenix Airport

The Heathrow-bound Boeing 747 has just pushed back from the departure gate at Phoenix Airport in Arizona, US, when the fumes were seen.

The pilot promptly decided to evacuate all 298 passengers on board using the emergency slides.

British Airways said everyone was evacuated safely from the plane, with around 15 passengers receiving minor cuts and bruises.

Flight BA288 had been preparing to take off at 3.40am BST.

A BA spokesman said: “The plane was being pushed back from the stand when there were reports of smoke.

“A decision was taken to evacuate the aircraft following the usual procedures.

    “All 298 passengers were safely.”

He added: “Our customer service staff at Phoenix are caring for the passengers and organising hotel rooms for them.”

Engineers are now on board the aircraft trying to find out what happened.
