I have been hanging around for 8 years! mostly because I am a bit sad and dont have better things to do! :);)
While the forum is not as good as when I first joined, it is still informative and interesting sometimes.
Sometimes the fun police are just too much and can be quite off putting, but then give some people a little bit of power and they do turn into little Hitlers! its the ones that insist on correcting spelling that really anoy the hell out of me, luckily there does not seem to be that many about at the minute, but i’m sure they will return.

I’m even more apalled that my photo caused so much grief, if i had known that would happen I would never have bothered. Interestingly I placed the same photo on another aviation forum with the same words and thread title, on that one it was and still is being trated as an amusing photo.
I am the one who deleted the thread, mistakenly beliving that it would quietly die, instead it gets re-instated! which I supose is fine but I have withdrawn the original photo.
Its a shame a once very fine aviation forum is now nothing but a place for bad apples to voice their unwelcome opinions.

Surely its already the only purpose built bomber the RAF fund? the Tornado started out as the MRCA (Multi Role Combat Aircraft), the Typhoon started as a fighter, what else have we got that can drop bombs?….nothing
I was told at Duxford a few years ago by a BBMF crew man that the RAF have the pride of claiming they are the only air force in the world operating a world war 2 vintage four engine heavy bomber and period fighters to boot.
curlyboy
& the out of service date for that bomber is 2031, so i read somewhere…
What a fabulous day and evening, I for one properly hope its repeated…
For me this photo in and of itself is worth the ticket price

That’s a good find. Though I am not sure what you meant by the damage being different. It looks pretty similar to me.
Moggy
I meant the props, they are bent rather further back in the video than in the photo.
Its like asking why people bungee jump, or base jump or other extreme sports, mainly because they can. I know its not an extreme sport but I bet it gets the adrenaline going!!
To answer Fouga23’s original question, I recon a large wedge of money to the right person in the right former Iron Curtain country could get you what you want!!
Have a look at this vid

I know they are different B-17s and the gear collapsed on different sides but the damage is very different, I think the B-17 in the pic was only traveling at a very slow speed, when the gear collapsed, Taxiing of the grass onto the concrete through a hidden hole perhaps?
bet there would be a very long waiting list to have a go if they did!!! must admit 20 years ago I would have joined the list :):):)
Is it back on display at Cosford? I had two trecks round last year both about October time, the 1st visit the P-51 was outside, the 2nd time it was not on display and was not seen outside, has it been moved into storage perhaps?
The top picture shows where it was but I belive theres a Spitfire in its place now…
