    Not at all.

I guess we can’t avoid the regs being the regs but at least if an owner/operator shows “good sense” when dealing with such an approach it may not give the media quite the article they were after..

Of course the other big spoiler in this crazy world now is that the Government grounds everything for some specific reason.

Didn’t the French government try something at the end of last year/early this? Didn’t they ban the use of ALL ex military equipment? I don’t know how long it all lasted, why it started or why they obviously backed away from it but…

Maybe what will happen is that over time the true originality of the current Warbirds will be diluted out through accident/rebuild or overhaul/rebuild. What we might end up with are really all flying replicas. Like the old joke from Trigger on Only Fools and Horses claiming that he has had the same broom for 20 years, “it just has to have a new head and a new handle occasionally”.

    Thanks guys,

I think the best chance we have against the Spit is making him stall out of the chase. We force them to fly so slow poor chaps!! In fact I spoke to a US 108 pilot who gets abused by Mustangs in a similar fashion and he brags about being the most unsuccessful fighter pilot in history. He gets shot down on average 3 times a week during the display season!!

In fact that would be an interesting bit of research. I wonder who was the most unsuccessful pilot of WW2 i.e. who was shot down the most times without being killed. Bet someone knows the answer…

Nearly all sorted. Very annoying as we missed the whole of the 2003 season due to this problem. The aircraft should be 100% as the last of the decent flying weather disappears..

    Always next year…

TomW is, I believe the expert in that neck of the woods maybe he could add more.

(suspect MoggyC may have been involved with this, since its in close proximity to Brakspear’s brewery…..:D;) )

Could have been me flying ME108, G-ETME, based White Waltham. I live in Binfield which is half way between Bracknell and White Waltham and I sometimes “buzz” the house on the way home (above 500ft of course) in a “put the kettle on…” kind of way..
