sorry to veer off topic regards the original question. There is an old dispersal pan and two brick buildings in Birchwood Nature Park to the east of the bypass plus a few bits and bobs at Birchwood Leisure Centre (plus the museum which moved from the Lawn in Lincoln). Does anyone know of further buildings to the west of the bypass?

    best regards, Steve

Does anyone know much about this film, ie is it any good, what aircraft are in it? Remember seeing the trailer years ago, think there was a Dragon Rapide in it (judging by the picture on IMDB as well), and I think I saw in an aviation magazine a photo of the Blenheim IV being used as well.

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0114279/

Cracking film, an interesting mix of milatary costumes and art deco surroundings and an excellent play. McKellen does a particularly sickly and forboding Richard.

Wasnt the Rapide shot filmed at Shoreham?

I hope Hatton is going to help me out, as he lives so close to the library and I can buy him a beer later – several months later!

He is a helpful chap and not shy of good ale 😉

    see PM Peter,

While in the UK recently I consulted the excellent set of Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft in Lincoln Public Library to update my First Flights list. Apparently an AISA (Spanish company) I-18 first flew on August 18, 1954. Now back home in Gothenburg I cannot refer to that particular volume, and have googled for this type of aircraft without result. Can anyone tell me more about this prototype/first production aircraft, please?
For example, monoplane/biplane, engine type, designer, registration – anything! I have a sneaky feeling it may have been a “typo” in that Jane’s!

Peter, if you want me to take a look at that volume again then let me know. I can photocopy parts as the library is about 2 minutes from where I live!

    Best Regards, Steve

congratulations to those who guessed correctly. It is indeed the Lambeth nose section. The effect of ‘darkness’ is purely created using off camera flash at 1/2 power. The background appears black because the background is far away enough for the flash to fall out due to the relatively low output.

Took the pictures on Thursday during a research trip.

Anyone care to guess where this and perhaps what is going on?

Given your recent travels, it would most likely be KB944 in the Canadian Aviation Museum (You did get to Ottawa, didn’t you?)

sadly not, toronto was the only place that got a visit in Canada in the end (plus the falls on the way back over the border)

here is a picture of FM104 that we did get the chance to see one rainy morning.

    Keep guessing folks…….
