On a different note, regarding the point made about the contradiction of my aiming for the general public but asking the enthusiasts, I don’t see it as a contradiction as such, more asking those who are heavily invested in the ‘scene’ to put themselves in the position of the public at large. I also anticipated that not everyone who reads this forum is quite as invested as the regular posters.
Jonathan, your efforts are by no means not appreciated but I would still say that you are best putting the question to the people you wish to serve with this information. Perhaps you could put this question on the IWM website and then your actualy target audience could email you/your colleagues with suggestions.
Its quite hard to put yourself back in the position of the general public when you are an enthusiast. I think everyone here has an above average knowledge of aviation and so our judgement may be clouded. If I try hard and put myself in a non enthusiasts place then i can imagine that it may have limited use as a lot of the aircraft on the list would mean nothing to me and that the only ones that may draw me in would be ‘spitfire’, ‘concorde’, ‘vulcan’ and ‘lancaster’ etc as they are household names. Also the boast of 100+ aircraft etc would attract me.

If you look back to the previous page you will see the words
You were not singled out. I left Floods response for your benefit.
I’ve allowed the banter to stay, thus actually breaking my own ruling. If you’d like me to go back and take all that out too I’ll happily oblige.

Good point. Thanks for the explanation, im not sure I agree that anything had to be pulled at all but I see your point.
best regards, steve
thanks for your reply Flood,
it is not the removal of my post that annoys me, it is the fact that several posts of a similar nature are left on page one of this thread which are equally off topic.
anyone want to give me a succinct explanation of why my post inparticular has been removed?
Id like it back please.
best regards, steve
Martin caters more to the enthusiasts, Friends, people like that. It’s really everyone else I’m thinking of. It’s just a list, folks! But if forum residents believe there’s no demand for such a thing within the IWM website, there’s my answer I suppose.
With the greatest respect Jonathan, you ahve contradicted yourself there perhaps. If youa re thinking of everyone else and not enthusiasts then asking us is pointless. We are all enthusiasts here.

In light of Danohagans comments, ive removed part of post 4, as I realise how sensitive this issue can be and therefore do not wish to bring up any bad feeling on this issue.
best regards.
Flugwerk fw190s? They (or is the use of the plural too optimistic) should be out and about this season perhaps?
Not tarring all of UKAR with the same brush at all. He is not really wanted there either.
Both boards can live together quite happily IMHO.Steve if you have a problem with the moderating on UKAR its probably best to take it up with them, rather than complain about it here, you will probably get more response.
Whatever happened between UKAR and Key its now a thing of the past.
Its not a complaint as such, an observation really. I choose to generally ignore the site and let them get on with it, there are still many good topics on there but I dont agree with the site on a whole. Not after a response in particular, just responding to Robbo.
As for the last sentence, I cant even remember what happened it was so long ago which makes me wonder just how long I’ve been using this board, must be an age. Are we due an anniversary celebration soon 🙂
regards, Steve
Steve, I wouldn’t necessarily tar everyone on that forum with the same brush. However, this individual deserves the feathers as well.
maybe not, but comments in the same ilk as those posted by Mr Mason are often unchallenged which I think is as detestable as saying them in the first place.
Not sure what to say on this one. Manonthefence’s comments were enough to make me look on UKAR and see for myself. My conclusion was the same as his. Despite the fact I find your views absolutely deplorable in every sense, perhaps you should be able to post as long as you keep these comments to yourself.

why is the twin pin in store? restoration work or exhibit rotation?
Looks like I have a personal choice on the 26th June.
Lancaster over Wakefield,at 2 locations,or Lancaster,Spitfire,Hurricane at Elvington. And as my car isn’t fast enough to keep up with both Lancaster sites,I’ll have to make a difficult decision.
Mmmmm…………………
Ken.
Anyone have an idea why it is visiting two locations at Wakefield?
Yes, Tim, after 30 years of wearing the beard, it’s gone! Apologies, Anna, for putting a personal post on your thread, but Tim may not be the only Forum member with the same question!
the Ernest Hemingway ‘lookalike’ competetion will sorely miss you 😉
nice pictures by the way Anna.

Where would you suggest, bearing in mind there may be restrictions on air movements in the Edinburgh area, ie East Fortune area? It’s not just about parking aircraft, but operating them as well..
well, since asked, i would suggest Newcastle and maybe even Glasgow plus Leuchars may be attractive too.
My comment wasnt a critisism. It was a question.
best regards, steve
why cant they operate out of somewhere other than Edinburgh?
