a bit different for me, i know i’ve seen a vulcan fly,i have the photograph taken by my dad to prove it as i was next to him when it was taken, the problem is….i cant remember. I have a vague recollection of a big triangular thing flying and lots of people getting excited but you know how things are, the more you think about it, the more invented the memories become. 🙁

Still, fingers crossed, might, just might, get a second chance.

I saw this film on the big screen in 70mm a while back, amazing daft storyline but great for this very fact, particularly like Burton and Eastwood talking in broad Welsh and American accents in the bar. Also like Burtons snarl to the officer that he is related to Himmler, “Himmler, does that mean anything to you?”

Moggy, its good also to see that the Nazis made use of the Bell47 during the war 🙂

Perhaps flood but id always been under the impression that it was to be displayed this way permanently. How much restoration is left anyhow?

I know it allows the public to see how a wellington is constructed but it would be great to see the aircraft fully covered with just a small amount of the geodetic structure on display. It would be the only place in the world where we could see what a wellingotn would have looked like (i can’t get a true feel for hendons as the night vision makes the camoflage a sea of greens). Its such an amazing job though that the team at brooklands have done though so im wary at complaining about such a small point 🙂

    Well said Lancman 😉

I really hope you are wrong Ant 🙁

A question, if the wings have literally been hacked off at a point where they should not then how will they be re-attached, wont it be structurally unsound?

nothings changed in the wolrd of gliding then 🙂 well maybe the hand isnt quite on the release handle but the tug pilot would usually release in such a scenario 🙂

Thanks for posting the photos chaps.

I lasted visited Hendon a month or so ago and i can only describe my visit as an utter disappointment. Im glad it’s now free as i would have felt cheated to have paid for that visit. The Milestones of flight building is half hearted, a mish mash selection of aircraft in my opinion. At least it keeps a few aircraft undercover though.

In what way is a T.35 Mossie, a milestone of flight?

Why is a Plastic 1:1 Airfix Eurofighter inside and a real hunter outside?

Why is there two million, all expensive and bad, eateries in the complex?

Why is there a cafe right in the middle of the helicopter display area?

Why did they let Trigger paint the sculpture outside the Milestones building?

Hendon really could do with a few licks of paint and a general tidy up as well as getting some improved lighting.

The only highlight was the Graham White Hanger which will look great when it is kitted out with period signage etc (i hope they do this anyway)

    Please excuse the rant 🙂
