the gun turret on the panton’s lanc is a shell really, no guns and mechanism. I think these were either never there or removed to allow more people on board for taxi runs.

    Steve,

its a great shame about this whole affair, hopefully you will stay and see what a usually interesting and reasonable calm forum this can be. Hopefully we’ve heard the last from Kittyhawk aka ‘Steve Patterson’.

    Best Regards, Steve

🙂 thanks for the correction. It was the best way i could think of putting it, i did realise that it wasnt owned as the hendon airframes were in the last few years transferred over from the RAF to the musuem itself.

Fluffy, if you’re going to have her then you might as well go the full whack and convert her into a ‘special’ and bounce bombs off the duck pond 😉

Id always figured if i bugged the nice people at the visitor centre enough then they might give me her.

Dont put her anywhere near Lincoln City Centre, please!!!! Somewhere in the middle of nowhere on a cold windswept airfield is the best place for her, isn’t the hanger at East Kirkby twice as big now ………….hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 🙂

Just a point of clarification. The Lanc will have to retire one day, im not concerning the issues of why or when, i just wandered where it may go and where people would like it to go.

The reason Cosford was mentioned as an example is because if the RAF want to keep hold of it, it is one of the few museums owned by the RAF that would have space and a roof for it.

stick around indeed, its historic aviation in a round about way.

great model, question though, why do all modellers seem to paint the rim of the cutaway, red?

The brown and green wings are from the outer wing of a Handley Page Hasting, they were to be used in the Halifax Project but were deemed to be unsuitable so others were found.

Didnt Mr Agar want to get the Mossie taxiable?

It would be great if this happened, events similar to the East Kirkby ones could be put on perhaps and themed WW2 days for photographers?

A great set of photos and a great museum, will be even better when hanger number two goes up on the far side of the Canadian Memorial Hanger.

All they need now is a Beverley

Will be nice to see the Halifax in a different scheme, ive often thought the present scheme doesnt quite look right, shades seem to vary across the aircraft. I guess this is authentic however as im sure the paint wasnt top of the priority list back then.
