Steve.
I thought it just ticked a lot of rather obscure boxes, that’s all. Particularly interesting that you should take a pop at me for what may have been an ill considered comment rather than at Pete for having a go at two of this Country’s most prominent/misguided/ill considered/richest (delete as appropriate) Religions in the UK.
Regards,

Simple Kev, from reading your posts in the past – and from having not an inconsiderable amount of respect for them and yourself – I thought you could do better..
As for Pete’s post – I think his own words now and in the past are sufficient to paint a pretty good portrait of himself.
Saw this on our local news last night, the Catholic Cathedral in Norwich is to receive a £1m pound lottery grant for an extension, church use of course, and to top that, the Anglican Cathedral, ok, one of the most beautiful buildings in the UK, is to receive £2.3m, for a bookshop and place for visiting choirs to stay.
Now I thought that these 2 organizations, particularly the Catholic Church, were just about the richest and biggest land owners in the country.
What a bloody disgrace to throw money at these people, hardly helping the needy and local community either is it.
What next, money to repair minarets I suppose, I dare’nt even think about that one.
Regardless of how much money the church has, i’d imagine that the upkeep of these buildings is an immense strain barely alleviated by the donations/admission charges that are generated. I’d say 1million is a drop in the ocean particularly when you consider that a lot of religious organisations put on all sorts of free community events that can be enjoyed by the religious and non religious community alike.

May I respectfully enquire, do you dislike them purely as a collective or individually..or perhaps it is ill thought out and rather vague satire?
best wishes,
Steve

The Lincolnshire Echo had a field day with it lol Although it was only like that for a week or two.
yes – they’re always outraged by something….:D
That’s a good point.
There is already the Lincoln Cathedral one as has been stated, and although at first it shared it’s position with a storage area *rolls eyes* it was clear when I went to see it it.
petition signed,
to be fair to the Cathedral, I believe – and correct me if Im wrong – that the reason it was behind the barriers is that work was not 100% finished on the deans eye rose window which is overhead and that the area at the foot was a work area and kept free of people for safety reasons. If people asked specially they could quietly look under supervision if it was practical.
Hatton,
Just look at the 53 Immigration questions being brought in to travel by air and justify to me that speed cameras reduce accidents !!
I dont need to justify this to you, I have no interest in speed cameras nor the knowledge of the issues surrounding them to have any sort of qualified opinion on the matter.
I apologise for diverting the thread off aviation, but I take offence at the rabid negativity expressed on here sometimes.
A fine sentiment RPS, but these days the opposite seems to be the case,Guilty unntil proven innocent seems to be the current trend. I guess the boys in blue find it easier and safer than trying to aprehend real criminals.
Its absolute ridiculous to post such broad generalisations particularly when they are insulting to those have been injured or worse, killed in the line of duty as serving members of the police force. Our police force is by no means perfect but im sorry, your statement is ill judged.
let me clartify. human rights are important… to the victims
thats where we differ, human rights should be afforded to all – whilst at the same time affording justice to the victims.
,without worring about human rights etc
Interesting that you imply that you dont think that human rights are important, the Cambridge Dictionary says that Human Rights are…
the basic rights which it is generally considered all people should have, such as justice and the freedom to say what you think
So surely what our veterans have sacrificed so much for to ensure.
In a way I find this thread and the woodhall memorial thread more depressing than the actual acts described in those threads. Sadly these things happen but as Kev rightly pointed out, they are far outweighed by the good and we can only hope that the authorities will catch whoever committed the crime.
The vigilante justice posturing in the Woodhall Spa thread is as sad an indictment of our nation than the acts that provoked them. If you want to make a difference – start a petition or get involved in local/national politics – it would be so much more refreshing than the endless whining about political correctness and H&S that crops up in place of reasoned debate.
😡 Litle suprise the Dam busters memorial has been vandalised at Woodhall spa.
The obscene thing is, it is opposite a police station. Or rather, an unmanned shack which closes at 5.00.
What use is that?
When they start recruiting proper police and not these play time PCSOs who are frankly a total waste of time, maybe we will see results.
Anyone who knows the price of property in Woodhall knows these are no council estate yobbos that have done this.
The excuse is “we need all the police for Conningsby”. Absolutely pathetic.
Anyone who is of the sad mindset to do such an act would, I feel, be little deterred even if the police station was manned – the police station is, to be more accurate, just down the road and not in line of sight and so it is perhaps a little unfair to lay the blame there.
Hopefully whoever did it may come to regret their appalling actions when they mature.
thanks for the compliments – my favourite is attached – originally colour. Can’t remember what film stock it was shot on, must have a look for the neg. Shot in 2003.
best wishes,
Steve
oh dear….
That post is pure genius!:D 😀 😀
