A quote taken from a review of the film on imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049313/reviews?start=0 posted by Kaye 129 which might be useful or not,
“I was, in fact, at RAF College Cranwell in the early sixties as a cadet and yes, we all saw the film. if I can remember back that far, correct and it was meant to be taking place at the College although I believe much of the filming went on at a Norfolk or Suffolk fighter base such as Middleton St George or Waterbeach.”
The colour version of the film is currently on You Tube.
The hangar interior looks like it could be either a type A or type C?.
There is a Provost early in that scene but whether that helps or not I don’t know, if it’s Cranwell then it could be WW435 of the RAFC which became an instructional airframe 7227M there after May 1955 after it tipped up on it’s nose following and accident near Biggleswade. Although I notice it has yellow trainer bands and not RAFC blue bands.
Looking at the Vampire which is coded ’12’ and is in camouflage. At the RAF Valley BofB display held on 14th September 1957 listed in the flying display were the following RAFC Cranwell Vampire including one code ’12’
Vampires: WG837/10, WA369/32, WR194/25, WX215/12 all RAF College, Cranwell, = WX215 is a single seat FB9
Last heard of and maybe still at Lodge Hill Garage in Abingdon

Hi I have sent you a p.m.
Hurricane LF363 at Booker by the way
Blenheim ? heading south over Henley-on-Thames about 10.30 ish
Sea Otter cockpit section in Australia
In the latest Flypast June issue it mentions a Boeing Washington WF444 fuselage found on the Dugway Proving Ranges in Utah, not sure what condition it would be in though would make a great addition to the collection.
And why not a AOP9 in the WZ/XK serial range as these are ex RAF would complete a nice range of Auster types
Several years back wasn’t images of a Whitley lying in the Baltic Sea?
The Hawker Hunter XF946 was certainly at Booker on the 11th July 1971.
The Me109 or Buchon is replica BAPC74 which later was displayed at Torbay, Devon
Yes forgot the gliders certainly would make a site with examples of each ATC type etc hanging from a roof at Cosford I guess.
Did not know about the Maryland either that would certainly be on the list, also I would assume a Jaguar would be available from Cosford when the training school moves?.
Yak-3 D-FLAK ‘OO’ seen heading north towards High Wycombe at 12.15ish
I know that they have had to carry out a lot of work and source parts or have them made etc because it is very much a one off even though it is a Spitfire,
perhaps Tom can enlighten us with news?.
Thank you all for the information so far, a few things to check out.
Yes I was aware of the significance of the date it’s just I had not dragged myself into 1918 yet!.
He was an instructor with 21 EFTS at Booker from 1943 until 1944 as is mentioned in the book “Wycombe Air Park – Booker, A Photographic History”.
Other film stars or movie related instructors at Booker were David Tomlinson, film director Peter Seabourne and author of Sagittarius rising Cecil Lewis.
Yes both ex Booker with Barry Parkhouse, Hunter T7 XL592 & Harvard KF435
Perhaps they could swap the Skeeter for a proper CFS example XM556 or XM564.
I guess if I was looking at possible disposals/exchanges with the collection swap/loan out the Swiss Venom and get the ex RAF NF3 WX905 (which should not have been disposed of in the first place in my opinion) back from Newark on loan maybe?.
I also think the following (maybe me being controversial) are out of place with the collections policy and perhaps could be used as swap items for future acquisitions
Casa Jungmann
Casa 352 (Ju52)
Flying Flea
Mustang at Cosford
Neptune
Catalina
RF-84 Thunderjet
Swiss Vampire at Stafford
Pucara
