I like it, too. Very unique.
What’s with the pilots being out of uniform?
I have found airside photography at LHR from the terminals to be completely nonexistant, with VERY FEW exceptions. I would imagine you would leave from T1 with the flight you mentioned, but it could be T4, as well. My cousin would know for sure.
Yours is nice too, Mike.
In terms of shopping facilities, LHR’s terminals 1-3 are top notch. In terms of eating facilities, T3 has a TGIFridays, which makes it top notch in that regards in my book.

gd, Varig weren’t original members, but as far as I can recall, they were the first additions.
Varig was announced as a member of the alliance just a few months after the first 5 were. By the time the alliance ‘commenced operations,’ however, they were a member. I consider that one of the originals, and I think they are referred to as such.

…but you can be the worlds biggest corporation selling/ doing whatever, but that does not necessarily make it the best at what it does.
In most cases, yes, I agree. But in the case of an alliance, I completely disagree. The bigger an alliance gives the passenger more options on a particular route when you consider stopovers, and of course, more destinations. I think it’s safe to say I can fly anywhere I want on Star, and not have to fly an airline where I do not get mileage, and more importantly, my benefits. If you do not enjoy or have never gotten to enjoy said benefits, you do not know what I’m talking about. Again, that’s for another, much longer thread.

I like OneWorld alot because of their fresh look
Define fresh look. Do Star and Skyteam not have this fresh look?

ALL of the OneWorld memebers are their native countries flag carriers, something that Star or Skyteam cannot claim.
Yeah, so? Out of all the airlines in Star, I can think of 3 airlines that aren’t their nations’ flag carriers. Those would be Bmi, ANA, and Asiana. What do JAL and Korean do that ANA and Asiana don’t, respectively? As for Bmi, sure they are not remotely as big as BA, but they don’t have to be. Air Canada, and United already have very strong N. American routes to Heathrow. By that token, Bmi just has to serve the feeder routes for those guys, plus the other members out of LHR. It does that admirably. At this point you might be thinking, ‘what about United?’ American is no more the flag carrier of the United States than United is.
I think they were just cleaning off some bird$hit that was going to be a potential viewing problem during flight.
Yeah, well as ‘ancient’ as it may seem, those original members (United, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Varig, Thai, and SAS) are the backbone of the alliance. The additional airlines that have been added since then just add to the strength, versatility, and QUALITY of the alliance.
I think Kabir meant that they would be making ‘extra’ money by doing this. UPS did a similar gig about 7 years ago. They had a contract with some cruise line and they used a couple of 727-100QC’s that were normally idle during the day (those particular aircraft were used mostly at night). They would put pallates in there that had seats and gallies and peel off the interior cargo panels plus add overhead bins, oxygen masks, etc., and you had a passenger plane. These examples still had the windows on the outside, and the conversion only took a couple of hours. I’m guessing TNT will do something similar.
Stelios Hadji-Iouanou?
What is the distance on that route in statute miles, anyone know? That has to be a polar route. I know CO does EWR-HKG in 777-200ER’s.
The ‘pilots’ are not wearing uniforms. I don’t know enough about cockpit panels to know anything else.

I think the old Star alliance was a good idea, but as many airlines join Star, it would be out of date in months!
As long as they are all working together, how would “it be out of date in months?”
