Its the same god damn scheme, it looks the same on ANY aicraft, fresh and clean.
That’s what I’m saying also, but some people just insist on it looking good on some types but not on others.
The first airplane ‘delivered’ isn’t necessarily line number 2, with number 1 being the prototype.
That’s what I thought.
They definitely had 727’s based in FRA, eventually taken over by DL, which closed down the FRA hub around ’95. TWA also had 727’s based in FRA.
How could any livery be, “over the top?” The only ‘over the top’ I know of is in poker, when somebody raises and you raise him. Besides, in this day and age when most airlines go for the conservative look, it’s good to have airlines such as BWIA (my personal favourite), Air Jam, Air Tahiti Nui, and the like. As one of my graduate professors used to tell me, “Variety is the Spice of Life!”
I like that Kai Tak pic, Mike. I was this close to flying there around the same time that pic was taken. Alas, it was not to be.
Happy 30’s Duxfordfordhawk. I’ll be that age by the end of this month.
An Easyjet 747? What’s next, a Southwest 747?

is that real? Look at the reg and US Flag?
It is real. There are a few American carriers that put the flag like that on the starboard side, NW being another. I wasn’t too keen on this aircraft before but it looks great in US colours, one of my favourites.

PA’s London base was a tight-knit and friendly group. Many of the PA Flight Attendants, Passenger and Ground Crews remain at LHR with UAL to this day.
Indeed. On my last SYD-SFO flight, the flight attendant sitting in the exit row in front of me was ex Pan Am and she was flying her last flight. It was enjoyable talking to her.
This is way off the subject, obviously, but what destinations did PA serve from LHR?

How long till we can book with FlySopranos.com ?:D
That would be my favourite airline! They would be based in EWR, however, not JFK.

717 😉
I actually forgot about the 717, but I was more referring to the time period in question. I don’t think QF had any T-tails at the time.
The engine on the Dutchbird is a Pratt, not an old RB211.

More likely Clipper America was renamed Juan T. Trippe.
To the best of my knowlege Tim, you are correct on this.
Is that first pic of the 773 the -ER version? I didn’t think the non-ER version had the raked wing tips that are pictured.
