There’s now talk of fencing off the area of beach under the approach.
This is unbelievable. One absolute moron is going to ruin it for thousands of aviation enthusiasts wanting to stand on that beach as the plane goes overhead. 😡
Anytime you see airlines pop up like this out of nowhere and start flying long-haul routes, very rarely do they stick around.
Enough of this ‘increasing codeshare on certain flights’ nonsense, and just bring Virgin Atlantic into the Star Alliance already!
I made the mistake of standing on the beach in line with the center of the runway while the AF A340 was taking off. Lets just say, my camera bag with one of my lenses and all my film inside went flying, and me nearly with it! When the Corsair 747 was making its turn, I didn’t repeat this performance. I will the next time I go, sans camera bag.

Also, there are a lot of people who want to visit scotland. We got some of the best culture, architecture and scenery on offer, worldwide. Not saying its the best, but pretty darn good.
Well, your whisky surely is the best, and I’m going to visit Scotland just for that!
I caught it as well, Steve. Good program.

Hopefully a new one stop destination could be introduced instead of just extra frequencies to Sydney and Melbourne. Maybe Perth or Brisbane perhaps?Regards

That’s a tremendous idea, if the load factors warrant such a route.
I frequently sit in the overwing exit row, which is also next to the lav, so I always have people congregating in front of me queing to go to the toilet. I don’t see the big deal, as long as the seatbelt sign is off. I think it’s ridiculous to turn the sign on, just to make the line disperse.
What airport and aircraft are on example?

…us Scots don’t see an awful lot of sunshine, unlike you Southern Californian’s. Demand for trips to the hotspots, such as the Carribean is huge for such a small country.
I never doubted this! 😀

Hopefully the next announcement from Scottish airports will be that of a Virgin-Atlantic connection to Florida and also (fingers crossed) a direct, point to point US West coast service.
How would Virgin pull this off if they’ve eliminated all their short haul routes, and narrowbody aircraft along with that, I would assume?

As for Trinidadians and Carribean dwellers coming to Scotland.. well we may have a cold climate, but we’re very, very warm.:D
HEAR HEAR!!
The article mentions a demand for the Scots to go down to Barbados and get some sun, but will there be demand for them to go up to Scotland?
With G-VSKY being taken by BWIA, how many A340’s strong will they be? Also, have they completely dumped the Tristars?
ORD is nice, until your plane pushes back on time but sits on the tarmac for 40 minutes to get in line for takeoff and you miss your connecting flight because of it. 😡 Everything else about it is great, though.
That is a good route, and nobody operates it non-stop, until now. Hopefully it works out for the Star Alliance. Rather off the subject, but what’s going to happen with this whole QF/NZ deal? Is it ever going to go through?
That is nice, WD!
Yeah Steve, I would think so. I don’ think they could do a low level flyby at 10 feet with landing gear retracted, either.
