When did this crash occur? Were there fatalities?
Those aren’t taken by Steve, Hurricane, he posts them off airliners.net.
P.S. Sorry to let the cat out of the bag Steve!
I flew on an AC 767-200 from YYZ to YUL. only a 45 minute flight on a widebody. NICE!!:D
Did AC also operate the A330 on this route, albeit, the -300 series? Also, how were their load factors? Finally, how is Bmi doing on their MAN-ORD/IAD services?
Just a freak accident. How many cargo airlines operate 747 classics everyday without problems? I don’t know how old this ex-BA example is, but some of these classic airframes are less than 20 years old, and have years of service left in them.

United recently announced that they are shutting down their Miami base. There will surely be more of the same in the next year. I’ll believe UAL will get out of bankrupcy when I see it.
This was a no-brainer. UA really didn’t have a huge presence in MIA to begin with. They are cancelling their 2 MIA-South America flights. Other than that, they really only serve MIA from their hub cities. Both Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo will continue to be served from IAD and ORD.
On a lighter note, they announced 3 new non-stop flights. ORD-KIX, ORD-EZE, and IAD-ZRH. The latter marks the return of UA to Zurich. They ceased service there sometime in the mid-90’s.

Greek dude what are you dooing with the U.S.Air logo? We here at United like to consider us airways as satans evil brother!
Even though US is a soon to be member of the Star Alliance? I thought all the Star members were down with one another, except MX who was recently ex-communicated. I actually put that avatar on there prior to flying on US (ironically with UA mileage) to SXM back in August. I’ll change it just for you wrenchbender. By the way, if US is Satan’s evil brother, then who is Satan, AA?
Is this pic taken from the top of a mountain, or something?

ALLRIGHTY THEN!!!!!
This is the opening paragraph of a press release discussing UA’s financial situation. I didn’t paste the whole thing because it was rather long.
CHICAGO, January 27, 2004 – UAL Corporation (OTCBB: UALAQ.OB), the holding company whose primary subsidiary is United Airlines, today reported its fourth-quarter and full year financial results for 2003, demonstrating significant progress in the restructuring of the company. Because of the work the company completed in the last year, UAL remains on track to exit from bankruptcy protection in the first half of 2004 poised to compete for the long term.

Although I’ve never flown on a 744 before, I guess I would partly rather try their 777… torn apart between flying on either one, since i’ve never been on them…
Depending on which flight you’re on, is what aircraft you’ll get. I checked UA’s timetable for March 18th, and they have 3 flights from LHR to IAD. The morning flight is operated by a 763. The noon flight is a 744 and the later flight is a 777.
Pretty much whatever Hand said. As long as they are in Ch. 11 and they are not liquidating left and right, they’re ok. They are constantly reaching agreements with creditors and do other things to raise capitol and reduce the debt, slowly but surely. I just purchased 1,500 shares of their stock last week. Their chart looks promising. As Hand also said, he and myself (40,000+ miles per year) fly them often. I have no concerns about them going under.

…anyone here know if there are certain restrictions on miles earned vs. ticket class? thanx all the same guys 🙂
I’m not quite sure what you mean by this, but let me see if I can clarify it nonetheless. You earn 100% actual flight miles flown on all economy class flights, or 500 miles, whichever is greater. 125% in business, 150% in first. Miles don’t ever expire, provided there is some acitivity in your account, once evrey five years. That part of the program is outstanding, unlike LH’s.
Why don’t we hear much about Royal Brunei? Obviously they have a lot of monetary backing, but what is their product like?
P.S. Wannabe, where are you flying to/from?

Yeah, like me. I fly in UA’s econo-plus all the time, and I don’t pay full fare coach.
