Whatever happened to the black & red/green/blue/pink/yellow liveries? Those were nice. Any still around? I recall being parked right next to one at AMS 2 years back. It looked sharp.

Well, that explains them coming in @ 1445 as opposed to the scheduled 1600.

Shortfall in performance on the initial aircraft? That’s horrible! Sounds like the MD11 all over again. I would hope they get these ‘shortfalls’ ironed out real soon.

Interestingly enough, SQ’s 777-200ER’s have a 2 class configuration, as well. The non-ER 777’s are in a 3 class, however.

It is a 2 class configuration (business/executive economy). SQ’s spacebed is one of the nicer business class seats as it is fully retractable among other things, so there’s no theoretical need for a ‘first class’ cabin. Their executive economy seat, I believe, is new for this aircraft, with a longer seat pitch and wider, as they fitted the new Airbus with a 2-3-2 econo class section, as opposed to the standard 2-4-2. I’m sure this helps pax to arrive in ‘reasonable shape.’

By the way, SQ still operates their other 2 SIN-LAX flights, one via NRT and the other via TPE.

SQ20 was scheduled to depart SIN at 1600 and arrive in LAX on the same day, Feb. 3 also at 1600. I drove down there, arrived around 1545 and stayed till about 1720, but I didn’t see anything. I contacted several of the regular photographers of LAX on a.net, and one of them told me that it came in early, approximately 1445, due to ceremonies that were planned, or something. There’s no way I would have been able to get down there that early, as I get off work at 1410. I missed it 🙁

Not bad for a 10 hour flight, eh? Prior to mid-June, it’s really cheap to fly to LHR from LAX, and vice versa apparantly.

That’s really cheap, I’d be all over that.

Is it the ER or non-ER version?

How did that thing even get off the ground with the tired perpendicular to the fuselage like that? That is nuts! That strut has to be pretty strong not to buckle under those circumstances.

Well, in theory, you could have chosen the one of the three IAD flights that was operated by a 777, right? Unless you just left it up to a travel agent, or something. I always make sure I get the A/C I want.

There’s no barrier at SXM either. That’s the beauty of it.

Thanks Peter. That has to be a great job by the pilots to get that thing down after dual engine failure and saving all the lives in the process.

Hi, that tells me absolutely nothing. I didn’t asked where, I asked when and if there were any fatalities. A simple answer would do. Thank you very much.

Your statement is worded strangely, but I’m assuming you’re referring to Bmi replacing the F100 fleet due to customer complaints. I can attest to this. I have flown Bmi once, last June 2003 from LHR-AMS and back. On the outbound the aircraft was in fact an F100. The flight was delayed for over an hour due to ‘technical problems.’ I didn’t care because AMS was my final destination and my brother and I were in the Bmi lounge drinking Guiness and Carlsberg for free (plus they upgraded the both of us, having Star Alliance Gold status does have its privileges 😎 ). Anyway, we finally get out to the aircraft, and the air conditioning wasn’t working. It was a relatively hot day so everybody was very upset, except my brother and I because we had too much alcohol in our systems, and we didn’t care. After a further delay in the aircraft, we started taxing and after about 5 minutes of that, the crew announced we had to go back to the gate and change aircraft. Needless to say, everybody was going crazy now. There was another aircraft at the gate we left from so we had to wait on the tarmac for another half hour. Eventually, they let everybody off the plane and some busses came and fetched us and took us back to the terminal. My brother and I went right back to the lounge for some more booze. They eventually brought an A321 and we boarded that (my brother and I were the last ones to board since we were in the lounge and for some stupid reason, we had to go through security again, even though we never left the terminal). The A321 interior was a lot nicer than the F100. I was rather looking forward to flying the F100 since I’ve never flown on a Fokker before. Do Bmi have similar problem like this with their Fokkers all the time?
