737NG’s have decent range. I know Aloha flies them from Hawaii to the U.S. West coast, and Vancouver is just a little further north on the coast. I don’t know the distance between Hawaii and Fiji, but if it’s roughly 5-6 hours, then the 738 should be able to handle it no problem.
They were referring to the previous bomb joker, the 21 year old arrested in Florida, as the one that was facing 15 years in prison.
Will these bomb joking morons ever learn?
Steve, I’ve been to Austalia about 10 times the last 4 years, and the weather down there, in my opinion, is as diverse as they come! You don’t need to be envious by any means. Then again, I live in Southern California where the weather IS NOT diverse. It is warm about 8 months of the year, and even in winter time it’s not that cold. I am envious of you Scots, however. Not because of the weather, but because of all the Malt Whisky distilleries. Some day, some day…..
Doesn’t the tail logo look similar to the logo of the airline formerly known as Air Florida?
How’s Hawaiian’s current situation? I’m not too sure. It can’t be all that bad considering they are starting new routes. They are the only pax carrier to operate a widebody into my home airport, ONT with direct service to HNL. Very convenient for those of us that live 40+ miles east of LAX so that we don’t have to drive all the way down there. They’ve been doing the route for almost 2 years now, so the load factors must be decent. Air Canada only lasted 6 months at ONT with their YYZ flights.

Wait; do i get it right? You claim your luggage, go outside like you arrived and then go to the checkin desk like you’re a normal non-connecting passenger? How much time do I need to connect?
No, you don’t need to stand in line again. Typically, upon exiting customs at a U.S. airport, there will immediately be an interline baggage belt nearby along with some baggage handlers to assist you. You simply put your bags on this belt and away you go. If you didn’t receive boarding passes for your connecting flight at your originating airport, then there is a customer service desk at the interline belt where they can take care of that for you. If you already have your boarding pass, put your bags on the belt, then go through security and go to the gate. Doesn’t take long at all (unless the security personel is working as ‘efficiently’ as they do at LHR, in which case, it could take longer).

As much as I love to watch aircraft, I don’t think I would ever go as far as taking my step-ladder with me to the airport, fearing that I would draw a lot of attention to myself! :p
I’m sure you’ve seen photos taken by Keegan, Murray, and Chui at SYD on airliners.net. At least 2, if not all of them bring a stepladder with them when getting shots from ‘the beach’ adjacent to 34L/16R. If not, then they would have to put their lens through one of the holes on the chainlink fence, like I have done while taking shots there. You get better photos with the stepladder.
My father has been connecting through JFK for 35 years. Originally on TWA and most recently with Delta. He’s never once had his luggage lost. The thing about JFK along with most U.S. airports, is that when arriving on an Intl flight, you must first clear U.S. customs before continuing on to your final destination. To do so, you must obviously claim your luggage, go through customs and immigration, and then re-check them in (this is done by simply putting them on an interline belt youself, it’s no hassel). To my knowledge, this is done everywhere in the U.S., except maybe NZ1/2 which has a stopover in LAX from AKL to LHR. At any rate, there shouldn’t be any problems connecting through JFK.
They’ll be only the 2nd U.S. based carrier to serve Australia, UA being the other. They’ll be competing with both QANTAS and Air Canada (continuing service from YVR) on the HNL-SYD route.
Good thing this wasn’t handled in the same manner as SwissAir 111.
Is Tenerife Sur where the PanAm/KLM disaster happened?
Hey, I’ll take credit for the first 2. I was first!

I agree that Diet Air must be the single worst name ever. How can you clown on ‘TED,’ however? At least it was derived from the parent airline name: UniTED. By that token, it is creative. Besides, when you have names like MyTravelLite and bmibaby, ‘TED’ is absolute genious. The words ‘baby’ and ‘lite’ should never ever be included in an airline name.
Do customers of Australian Airlines earn frequent flyer privileges with QANTAS’ program?
Which one of these many loco’s flies into OPO? And from where?
