All good points Mongu, very valid. Airbus is no doubt doing very well right now, after a rather slow start with the A300. I have equal admiration for certain Airbus products, as well as for certain Boeing products. I hope the A380 is a HUGE success. I also hope that Boeing learns something from the A380’s huge success and pulls their heads out of their asses. If Airbus did in fact come from the ashes of the Concorde, great. At least they are profitable now, considering how much money was lost in the whole Concorde ordeal, as I mentioned before. It’s a shame even more money was lost spending all that money retrofitting them after the Air France disaster, only to have them fly for a couple more years.

I agree, the U.S. were probably a little jealous of the fact they never developed a supersonic transport unlike the Anglo/French and the Russians. They pretty much shelved that and developed the 747 which has roughly 1,500 airframes and counting(slowly but surely) vs. 16? Not bad.

I agree with you Saab. What’s the point of an alliance if you can’t can’t codeshare amongst every member involved? As far as U.S. payback goes, i’m sure the U.S. have been crying since day 1 that Concorde was operational, considering Concorde has been a financial bust since the developmental stages, all the way through it’s operational service. Spending all that money to build a total of 16 airframes? NICE!!!

From that original picture, you can actually tell which series of 737 it is, without the engines. If you look at the tail fin, the 300 series on had a “dorsal” fin extention at the base of the tail fin. It is missing from this model which would make it a 200 series, or in some very rare cases, a 100.

I liked the Concorde in the SIA scheme. Actually, the current SIA scheme is slightly different to that one, not much though. I like their current scheme. No new one needed, in my opinion. I agree with you, Mongu, on what you classify the Concorde as.

Thanks Monster. I believe we flew threw Northern Iraq from AMS to SIN. I processed most of the info you just posted. However, what I’m wondering is, are those commercial operators still flying over Iraq right now, be it northern, southern, or whatever, despite all the military sorties that are going on, in addition to the presence of artillery.

With the exception of the Heathrow-U.S. flights, which they obviously still didn’t get approval on, otherwise, is this pretty much the type of codeshare that they’ve been seeking approval for, in the last few years?

I think that Korean Air is a formidable enough Asian airline, and member of Skyteam to provide connections in S.East Asia for Gulf Air, via the new airport at Inchon.

I seriously doubt that Virgin would acquire “a couple” of aircraft just to say they operated Concorde. This wouldn’t be the least bit feasible, even less so if only 2 or 3 aircraft are involved.

Those aircraft flew other routes as well, not necessarily under the “Asia” brand name, but the aircraft were used. I saw the above aircraft in Sydney one time and they used to make LAX appearances, as well.

United has codeshare flights with both Emirates and Saudi Arabian. You can also accrue UA mileage on either of those 2 carriers flights. It would make sense for either of those 2 to join Star in that respect. It’s amazing that a renowned airline like Emirates has yet to join one of the major alliances. They might be taking a similar stance to Virgin, to which Branson has stated that he has no plans of joining a major alliance anytime soon; even though Singapore has a 49% stake in them.

Indeed it is, as is evident with both Air France and KLM aircraft present. SXM, Princess Juliana airport, the one from all the pics you see, is on the Dutch side. I’m staying on the Dutch side.

I’m going to take several rolls of film, that’s for sure. The quality might not be as good as those guys on Airliners.net, but I’ll do my best. I’m looking forward to it. I’m a bit of an amateur, but I have lots of pics from my travels last summer, Australia, New Zealand, Frankfurt, London, Amsterdamn, Athens, etc. that I haven’t posted. I developed 2 of the rolls, but still have yet to develop the 3rd.
