If you want to be personal come and join us in the General Discussion forum.

No kidding! Way too many fireworks in there. I think the military forum is even worse.

Who have now just gone and bought a whole load of A343s from Singapore 😉

That’s what I was going to say. I don’t think EK ever had the A340 prior to taking these 2nd hand ex-SQ birds. Or did they?

well, even RR’s can’t operate at full efficiency every where.

    Good.

Are those 2 drawn to scale?

The ‘greek’ comes from my ethnic background being Greek, as both my parents were born there prior to migrating to the U.S. The ‘dude’ comes from a word that Californians like to use. ‘1’ is the number I typically wear while playing sports, basketball in particular. I’m actually kind of bummed I didn’t do WD’s idea and use the phonetic words from my handle. I would have been “Golf Kilo.”

Guys if you want a cool screensaver check out the Star Allaince website.Their screensaver shows you were every star allaince members planes are are and shows you the flight number and dstination one at a time. Its awseome and very very addictive.

No kidding? I knew their screensaver entailed some sort of route map, however I had no idea it was as interactive as you describe.

Seem ANZ are very happy with RR’s engines 🙂 and rightly so.

Is that why their second batch of 744’s are GE powered? 😉

Aeroflot will be joining Skyteam before the Year is out, though…

I was well aware of that. 😉

LOL @ Homer. 🙂 For the record WD, I have no recollection of this being posted, perhaps I overlooked it. Therefore, your efforts have not been wasted.

Just the same, I would NEVER confuse a L-1011 with a {Yuck} DC-10. I know I flew at least one leg to HNL on a Tristar.

I hate to be anal about this, but the L-1011 is my favourite airplane of all time. Either your dates or your aircraft aren’t consistant with when Hawaiian retired the Tristars in favour of leased DC-10’s from American. At some stage in 1995 maybe even late 1994, Hawaiian was done with the L-1011. They were stored and either wound up with Rich International, or Air Ops. If you’re positive that you flew with Hawaiian on a Tristar, then you flew to HNL in the early 90’s, perhaps up until 1994. Otherwise, it was another operator of a Tristar with a white fuselage, like Delta, America Trans Air, or the aforementioned Rich International, all of whom did the LAX-HNL run with Tristars.

    Better a sister in a whorehouse than a brother on a DC-10.

    Nice one! 😀

Boy do I get things wrong! Yes LAX-HNL and yes Hawaiian. But I am pretty sure it was as recently as ’00. Certainly not as long ago as ’94.

That being said, you were on a Hawaiian DC-10, not an L1011. The Tristars were long gone by 2000.

The entire family got upgraded to 1st Class on the LAX-HNL leg because they had overbooked our orignial flight. You do not forget things like that.

No you do not! The brother and I got this same treatment last year on United flying LHR-IAD.

Wow, I’ve never heard of that before. Have you ever seen it?

Not in person, I have not. I have seen the process of the torch being lit at Olympia, on Greek TV, however.

With their recent purchase of a fleet of A320’s, i thought they were starting to lean toward the Airbus product

Me too. I’m glad to see that they are staying with Boeing for their long-haul fleet. Not that I have anything against Airbus, but Boeing could use a few orders nowadays.

I think that looks prettty nice, incorporating the colours of the Olympic theme this year, with the olive branches and whatnot. The Olympic torch is lit naturally (using sunlight reflecting off a silver convcave dish of some sort) in Olympia, Greece. It is then relayed thoughout various nations, ultimately reaching its destination for opening ceremonies, which for this year won’t be too far from it’s birth.

If Aeroflot was in Star, I would have gone out of my way to have flown them already.
