Funny how people can make a comparison between 2 things, 1 of which they know absolutely nothing about. How is that possible?

Either I’m being a bit thick tonight, or this is one of those colloquialisms that doesn’t cary-vover into UK speak.

The letters stand for National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood. It comes from a very lame TV program that I’m not a fan of, but I am a fan of the acronym.

I was referring to the fact that footballers are prima-donna ballet dancers and they’d probably run rather than get caught on a rugby field.

I believe I mentioned illogical commentary somewhere.

If you’ll forgive me for starting an A.net-like thread like this… I think it can be quite interesting considering there are members from everywhere on this forum.

Actually, I think A.net have some really good threads sometimes, and I wish I could respond to them. However, I am not about to pay a few in order to do so. This is a good topic, and Lao Aviation sounds very exotic indeed!

Not that remarkable, but I’d like to mention it anyway. What was probably my last flight on a 737-200 took place in April 2002, on C-GWPW carrying Canadian titles, from Chicago to Montreal.

I flew on this very same route in October of 2000! I don’t recall the registration but it was a Canadian 732 painted in full AC colours, albeit with Canadian titles and a small goose near the front of the fuselage, the quasi-Goose scheme, if you will.

As far as exotics go? I have one that is relatively exotic. Mahalo Airlines, now defunct, operated ATR-42’s from HNL to the various Hawaiian islands. I flew them from HNL to OGG and back in 1996.

I don’t know if Air Jamaica would be considered exotic. At any rate, I flew them in 1997 LAX-MBJ on an ex-DL A310-300. This was one of the best flights I’ve ever had, as the flight attendants did a fashion show up and down both isles on the return leg, and they were extremely attractive!

    – Canadian North 737-200 with gravel kit on icy runways 🙂

I echo your sentiments on this one. I’ve wanted to fly with these guys ever since I read an article about them in Airliners or Airways a few years back. I believe the aircraft they used was a combi, and they were a Canadian franchise at the time. Are they an Air Canada franchise now in full AC colours, or are they independant?

    Football? Girl’s game.

Only if you consider a ‘girl’ to be of the “NO MA’AM” variety.

A thread about soccer, now we’re talkin’! I’d like to address a few quotes by some of y’all.

The European Cup is there for the taking for the French unless they work really hard at throwing it away – like they did with the World Cup in the Far East a couple of years back.

Like they will in Portugal if they seriously intend on starting Sylvain Wiltord over Robert Pires. Seriously, other than David Beckham, has there ever been a player more over-rated than Wiltord? He was instrumental in Arsenal going undefeated this year…by not being fit enough to play!

I am supporting Spain, it would be nice to see them win a major trophy for once.

Yeah, too bad Spain aint winning anything. They will lose to Greece in the first round, because for I will be at that game!

I am sick and bloody tired of seeing his bloody face, his bloody wife’s face and his bloody tattoo in our newspapers every day. I dread to think what overkill we would be subjected to if England won!!! You must admit that as far as the media is concerned, there is only one player in the England team, and that is Beckham. What about the other 10? Have the media forgotten that football is a team game in their sick perverted obsession with a jessie who wears girls hair bands, pink nail varnish, sarongs, perfume etc? I hate the idea that people see an effeminate pr*ck like Beckham as a representation of England. And I hate it when they assume that all English women adore Beckham, because I certainly bloody don’t.

This is one of the greatest tirades I have ever heard! I like this so much, Comet, I am going to print this out and show it to my cousins who are avid England supporters. Beckham is so over-rated, it is disgusting. Real Madrid had a great season, didn’t they?

I don’t want to know another snippet of dreck about that arrogant tosser. He fouls and then squinies. He plays up for the press and then moans like buggery about them. The guy is a cretin; not for nothing is he portrayed the way he is by imitators. Hate is not a strong word for my feelings here.

    Equally well said, Flood.

As an American, I can tell all you very confused people that Football season does not begin until September. The World Champion team is the New England Patriots. And that silly game that the rest of the world plays in short pants and a round ball is Soccer. No one in the US gives a damn about Soccer. In the US, Soccer is the game we force our children to play until they are old enough to take up Baseball. The only European game that Americans could become interested in is Rugby…. but you will have to change the off side rule, allow forward passes and give the player some pads and helemts so that they can really injure each other.

See, it’s commentary like this that really portrays us Americans as arrogant. For the record, gentleman, I am an American who loves soccer, and there are more like us. Soccer does get a bad rap here in the U.S., and there seemingly is no end in sight. It is a misunderstood game by most here, but yet, hockey has boomed in the last decade. The ironic thing is, during that time, hockey has turned into a joke of a sport. The NBA isn’t much better nowadays, with scores in the 72-67 variety. Ridiculous. As far as American football goes, that’s where I draw the line, because most of the anti-gridiron comments are about as illogical as this anti-soccer post. It is just misunderstood by most outside the U.S., just like soccer is here.

We had a thread talking about this before. The way I see it, as long as LHR and at least 2 other airports can handle the thing, there’s no reason to delay delivery by 1 1/2 years. That’s a long time. Which airports will be A380 friendly at the time of initial deliveries?

Also, elaborate more on the LH FRA slot gimmick. What does this entail?

    Except even lower! 😮 😀

Indeed, I was just about to comment on that. I stood under the approach at SXM, and they are not this low. Looks like I might have to make a visit to Skiathos, if not this summer while in Greece, then 2006 perhaps.

I’m waiting to see the fireworks that will ensue with this statement. 😉

And this image is very above average! As simple as LH/DE’s colours/fonts are, I think they are outstanding.

Concorde as a billboard is a disgrace.

Using it as a billboard for Pepsi is the greatest thing the Concorde ever did!

I would rather be beat to death with a hammer than hand over my stuff without a fight.

Sorry boys, I have to agree with my boy Wrenchbender here. I’m not one to advocate getting in a fight by any means. However, I aint gonna’ let some thug take my $hit like that. If he was packin’ heat, different story. However, being ‘strapped; with just a hammer, I would have felt the need to call his bluff.

If that sums you up remember to remind me before booking never to fly United.

.You know what Andrew, I’ll take the liberty and remind you. Please don’t fly United, ever. Given your fondness to easyJet, perhaps one day they’ll start flying trans-Atlantic, as well.

You have to make sure it is the proper size. As long as you have the image downloaded on your computer, you go to your options where it says ‘avatar,’ then click on ‘browse.’ Attach the image you want as your avatar, and there you go.
