I saw the Lancs on 2 days at the Goodwood Revival, it was a spine-tingling few minutes and a once in a lifetime experience as others have said. Bonus display by Canberra & Hunters! Not to mention the cars…
Definitely a joke label. It just says “Global Airplane Ship-ping Solutions Inc” in a direct transliteration of English to Greek letters, it’s not in Greek. And the X is a chh sound not kkk, so it actually says “Inch” and “Chhontents””!
Many thanks phixer.
Ok here is it: would like to know what the SS does before I press it 😉

Very interesting everyone. I’ll post a couple of pics in the morning.
Guys,
I’ve recently acquired an F-4 stick top, the HOTAS kind made by Rocker Industries. This has an additional weapons selector thumb switch on the right with labels for GN, SP, SS and SW. Two questions if I may:
– Does anyone know which UK F-4s these were fitted to? You see them in some FGR2 photos but not as many as the older type. Was it a later mod fitted to all aircraft?
– I’m being a bit stupid here but what does the SS stand for?
Nice. Years ago I bought a flight helmet and party suit from the estate of an ex-Thud pilot, River Rat etc. They are very atmospheric.
Having lived in Turweston since 1980, parents still there, I’d be interested to see this!
Looks interesting. I have in my collection a very nice HGU helmet/mask and Vietnam-made party suit from the estate of a Thud driver. Like many of us I am fascinated by the air war in Vietnam.
One thing I’ve learned from collecting a lot of different kinds of junk over the years is that prices change. If you get too hung up on what an XX cost last year, you never pull the trigger. For example prices of aircraft and cockpits have risen as scrap metal prices have gone up, and people want to buy “stuff” rather than put their money in the stock market. 10 years ago I bought my first cockpit for what would be considered a song today, the seat and grip alone are probably worth more than what I paid. If I wanted to replace it at that price, I’d struggle. Of course there are still people asking silly prices for things on e-bay and it is annoying that they don’t let the market work properly. But in my opinion focusing on old prices is a sure way to disappointment.
Well that’s rare, a Belfast Yoke.
Seems to forget though, although only 10 were built, they had 2 of em.
Regarding this “yolk”: presumably though comments on price are verboten we are allowed to mention any egg-streme spelling mistakes?

Edit: I can speak from experience about the Lightning as I was part of the investigation team that looked at why the Red Top was such a poor performer. In fact even in the mid 80’s we did a feasibility study into whether we could put four sidewinders on it.
I’d be interested to hear the conclusions.
