Could it have been this one? Tangmere, Summer1943? But I hadn’t recalled RAF markings. Thought someone had lost his way!!

I’ve said it before, but I need to remind myself.

Thought it would be clever, in the ’50s, to feather the 2 Shackleton engines nearest the spectators.

As we were in the middle of a very low pass, No3 failed.

Count the number of hands going for the switches!!

Never really gave it a thought.

So long as the chap got out, I see no harm. I’m sure MoD wouldn’t want it any more?

The collector’s world is avid & fascinating &, within the rules, as with national monuments & coins, I see collecting in general as a good sport to keep people out of the Pubs!

Personally, I’ve only collected postage stamps – & pebbles from the beach. Yes, even that’s forbidden now??

What’s more, I was in shirt sleeves – highly improper, but I was supposed to be going on leave that day & was in my No1. So took off the jacket to preserve it.
