What/where is Iqaluit? Sorry for my ignorance! 😮
Iqaluit is located in Baffin Island, Nunavut, CANADA. if you can’t find it on the map, just look at Greenland and you’ll see a big island (smaller than Greenland, though) below Greenland.
we have a runway (smaller than 10,000ft though) and Iqaluit is a good spot for cold weather tests for new aircraft, especially during the cold winter months. seen the big Antonovs, Illyshins?!, Galaxies, Globemasters, even the Airbus A380. military fighters do stop-over and all sorts of civilian planes, too, but it’s like the most stop-overs are usually international airliners that had to make an unexpected landing. usually it’s the passenger/s that gets a heart attack or other sudden illnesses and the planes have to land.
Yes, it’s on the ground, but this is as full-frontal as it gets!

i think if i remember the Tornado ADV was the cover photo with Jane’s Aircraft Recognition Book from the 80s (with some missiles) just banking away frontal but not full-frontal…
