sorry wrong place
They should look at the idea of the F-35D I like it
Even if it was dropping paveways or using brimstones on armoured vehicles no sane person sends a GR9 into an environment where it could encounter real fighters, sea harrier maybe, but not the GR9s.
Would you want a GR4 to be in that enviroment? what goes for the GR9 must surely go for the GR4 – sure its got the ability to move fast, but that doesnt counter AA missiles.
That arguement to me doesnt cut it
I would like to know where HMS Ocean is at the moment. I wouldnt mind seeing her out there – especially with 3 or 4 Apache – I know I know they might become targets for others, but they would provide great help for those SAR copters.
Sweden is ready to help too.
OK so is this now becoming a show case for the M-MRCA
BAE are really trying to make sure that the fact that the French offering is both land and Sea Based doesnt lose them the contract.
Otherwise there are no customers for this jet.
The airbases arent that close and arent that great.
You have Ark Royal off the coast with the GR9’s with Sniper Pod, you have the ability to be making sure that Benghazi aint being hit by artilery.
RAF tornadoes fly from Cyprus – 700 miles there and 700 back. You need to re arm to have fighters ready to respond to tanks driving what 30-40 miles you need some good loiter time and no 700 miles to cover to get to the mission zone.
I would rather have The Harriers.
Oh to have those ground attack Harriers would be nice right about now. Stupid RAF.
HMS Ark Royal sat out from Banghazi with 12 Harriers operating would have been nice.
Admiral Gorshkov – I really want to see some updated pictures of her – any one got a recent picture link?
Gaddafi has quite a few SAMs that could cause a major headache for loitering 4th gen aircraft. If the operators are smart they’ll keep them off for days and lull the patrolling aircraft inot a false sense of security. It’d be a big do if a Typhoon pilot were to be held hostage.
ALARM missiles at the ready 🙂
what do you think the chances are we will be allowed to purchase the X-47B Pegasus and do you think we would for the CVF?
Crock of s#%t
They will have learnt alot already from Brazil, don’t be surprised if the next carrier has cats and traps these guys learn fast.
I’m sure this has been posted before, but I do like this illustration of how the Varyag will look in the end.
