Another one : rafale M with a Mig-29 from Yemen (2006) ๐

ยฉMarine Nationale (from air et cosmos )
Apparently it is said that rafaleM often train with typhoons
No.
It is said that it would be good to train with typhoon squadrons.
British typhoon were invited to the air defense week organised by the 12F squadron but they eventually didn’t come.
was thinking that the Rafale programe may be endagering the capabilities of the French Air Force. Its acquisition and the one of the A400M are closing the opportunities of considering any CAS airplane or a substitute of the Jaguar
As already said, the jag is replaced by the rafale. Actually it is the first FAF plane replaced by the rafale.
Nevertheless, you are right about the CAS role.
The rafale can do it with the AASM. it can carry 6 of those fire and forget GPS/IIR weapons but it might be a bit expensive for the role.
But don’t forget that the mirage 2000 will still be operated until 2020. The 2000D will also use the AASM is addition of the classical GBU-22.
There are also plans to convert the mirage 2000C fleet to a CT standard and use them as attack aircrafts instead of air defence fighters (to replace the mirage F1 CT).
the tankers are very old
You are right, and they will be replaced by the A330 MRTT and the A400M.
Those new A330 tankers should be ordered during the next LPM starting in 2008
and also the trainers are not at the state of the art and the French-German industry is not planning anything new (beside maybe the Israeli Javelin).
Initial training will be provided by EADS with javelin planes.
The Alpha jets will still be used for a long time as there is no real plan to change them.
The FAF seems to think that it is better to learn the basics of a fighter pilot in a basic jet.
I also think that the A400M will not solve the issue of a Strategic Cargo
Well, at least, it will be better than the C-130 and C-160
The FAF seems quite pleased with the An124 she rents.

I’m still looking for
– rafale with tornado
– rafale with F-15
– rafale with typhoon
– rafale with gripen
:p
first EC725 delivered in 1999 and probably ordered in 1996
3 EC725 ordered in 1999-2000 delivered in 2004
2 EC725 ordered in 2002 delivered in 2005-2006
total : 6 cougar resco for the armee de l’air.
Don’t worry Kovy there are always people ready to write off projects like the Rafale. I just wonder what they’ll say when the Rafale gets its first export order, l which it will, soon. I’m still holding out hope that the Royal Navy will get the Rafale M instead of the F35. That’d be ironic. Its a good jet, as good as, if not better than the Typhoon. It WILL get orders.

Are you sick, Phil ? ๐
AAaaaaaah my dream, is 3 catobar CVF with rafale M on each of them and 20 T45 to escort them ๐
The Rafale is dead already in the export market, theres an over abundance of fighters in the international arena an the emergence of both the Eurofighter and the F-35 have casted the final word in the Rafale’s export prospects.
Dassault current market for the rafale is small but it still exists.
So far, it has failed to get new markets… markets owns buy the USA (Korea, Singapore, Netherlands, Norway) or UK (Saudi Arabia) for decades. Dassault had NEVER sold a single plane to those countries in 50 years.
So let’s wait for the Greek and the indian contests… 2 current Dassault costumers.
Well, this is not a surprise.
The rafale was the 4th of the outsiders in this contest and Dassault has never really believed the rafale could win this one.
My bet is for on the F-35 even if I would like Norway to buy the typhoon.

A400 M and EC725 for sure.
