    RE: air rage

    Hmm..
Sure, alcohol is a major annoyance and so is hooligans. I was on a flight from Seoul to Sydney, onboard a KA 777) where a passenger had been over-drinking (and according to a friend of mine, who was sitting behind him, he had also been taking pills). That, of course, had a VERY bad effect, as he suddently started yelling “But the Japanese are killing whales!!” Eventually he started running from the middle of the plane toward the back (where I was seated on the last row) while being chased by the FO (I think). He was, eventually, caught and finally placed in handcuffs (the plastic ones, ye’know?) in the rear pantry. He was seated there for the remaining 5-6 hours of the flight. Under his seat they found a bag of pills, and 2 empty bottles of Whiskey (I think it was).

Now, some 2 or 3 hours into the flight we ran into some HEAVY turbulence, and since it has been mentioned earlier the passenges who are uncomfortable on planes have a higher tendence to drink, it might have been the reason as to why he started drinking. As for the pills, well, that’s not my call.

“in terms of passengers and destinations served”

    I believe that’s quite specific?

    RE: scandinavian airlines

If SAS would still be able to offer the same service, I wouldn’t mind a possbile merger. Especially if they were able to combine the cold-weather expertise from Finnair with the pro-environment-programme in SAS. Also, if it means that the pro-enviro idea gets out to more airlinesrs, I’m all for it.

It’s now that the airlines have to act if we’re still going to see aircrafts in the sky.

    RE: Best airline

I have been treated to a number of long and short-haul airlines, and my opininion is:

    Short-haul:
Premiar (Danish charter airline): Been a while, but I DO have to say that their A320’s weren’t the best as the inflight movies were shown on a tiny screen, which was lowered from the ceiling. I think it was 8-10 rows who had to share a mini-TV each. However, the food was always ok.
SAS: On a EDDF-EKCH flight with their MD90 (I think), there was no in-flight entertainment, except for free edition os assorted Danish & German newspapers. The food was mainly Danish traditional. But now my main critic point: The seats! The seats were, in economy, EXTREMELY small. Being a rather large person, 185 cm, 110 kg’s (I know, I’m trying to quit eating), I had large trouble getting to sit properly in the seat. It wouldn’t had been so annoying if it hadn’t been for the fact that the armrest between the chairs couldn’t be moved. A friend of mine (even larger) also found this extremely annoying.
BA: Not so much. On a A320 (I believe) from EKCH to EGLL, we were treated to a free drink. But that was it.

    Long Haul:
I’ve had 4 long haul trips, in order: LHR-Seoul / Seoul-Sydney / Sydney-Seoul / Seoul-Frankfurt. All of them were onboard a Korean Air 744, except for the Seoul-Sydney part, which was onboard a Korean Air 777.
    Good:
Free Drinks. Some 20 music channels, split in a ‘western’, a Korean, and a Japanese (or Nippon) music area. 2 different meals available for Dinner (though one was Korean & Spicy, read: algae soup with pepper-paste. This was the same on all occasions). Danish beer on the Seoul-Frankfurt flight (highly appreciated after 5 months in Australia). The flight attendants capability to handle difficult passengers (some guy got drunk & high on the Seoul-Sydney leg, and had to be restrained. Unfortunantly for me, he was placed in the rear area of the plane, and I was sitting on the last row. He cried. All night.) Inflight entertainment (They showed some different sports programs as well as some 30 minutes of CNN, quite interesting). Oh, and let’s not forget their will to let passengers get a free upgrade (as my friend got.. *sigh*)
    Bad:
The flight attendants couldn’t understand a descent word of English (Took me 20 minutes to explain what a beer is). Inflight movies (half is Korean, with _no_ subtitles, at least not on my flight. There was english speak, but it was rather questionable. The english movies (such as Mission to Mars) was only showed in half, then it was stopped, never to return).

And a last note: Due to some different matters, my return flight had to be rebooked on the day of my flight. To my appreciation, I could be rebooked from Sydney to Frankfurt via Seoul, BUT they wouldn’t fix the last leg (Frankfurt-Copenhagen) since it was a different airline. But when I arrived, I still had to talk to the local Korean Air office to have my flight rebooked. That was a bit annoying as it gave me some trouble with my parents who were going to pick me up in Copenhage. I was approx. 2 hours delayed because of it.
