Good job the navy didn’t have to do the “quick reaction alerts” or whatever they were called then back in the late 1940s….

Anyway the location of the source of the photo has been posted. See earlier link. Why would anyone fake holiday snaps?

Anyway for the conspiracy theorists.. I think it was the guy on the grassy knoll who took the picture!

According to the Warbirds Directory it was recovered from a swamp in Texas….dunno how that came about though!

Recovered (from) swamp near Gander, and trucked to Texas in 1972

The last time I looked Gander is in Canada!

However, does anyone know (or can guess an Hurricane Mk. XII RACF serial) for this and a crash date?
