How would you advertise/marketing it.. Going on with the ‘Merlins Over Malta’ itritive letter them.. could have (though I KNOW it is historically in-accurate!)

Was that FAA Seafire scheme? Or a Spitfire paint scheme specific to Malta?

I wonder if that is what Duxford mean’t when they had SEAFIRE down on and old Aircraft Partipation List (no longer online unless you use Google Cache!) 😉

There was one great story in Commando.. It was about some pilot who was tormented by 4 other pilots. He died somehow and he left 4 playing cards or something, 1 to each of them. All the other pilots died with a link to the cards.. A boat called Ace of Spades of something.. Very Hockus pockus

The reason I remember it? I had to do a review on a story (any story) in my O Level English course about ‘fate’ and I reviewed the comic!!!!

Heres a few Then with time say another 2 years add 3 more p40s, another P39, a P38, a B25, another spit, another 2 or 3 P51s, a kingfisher, Ki61, Beaufort, Corsair, Vengeance and so on then it stacks up as a pretty healthy warbird flying scene. Plus whatever we con out of the Kiwis such as the Polikarpovs etc

I note the total absence of a Beaufighter in that list… Have you given up on it John?? 😉

Very sad news..

I only knew him via this Forum and his interest in history and 2nd Lieutenant Wastell RFC in particular..

I wish I had said hello to him at the Red Lion on Saturday now…..

My condolences to his son, fiancee and family..
