Says there that the page was last updated in 2009.

maybe so.. But the important bit is that its says

FR.XVIIIe SM845 SE-BIN Under restoration after crash 22-08-2010 Biltema, Ängelholm, Sweden

So they must have updated the page it to refer to crash in 2010 or 2011 – but probably forgot to update the ‘update date’

She left UK for Far East left Southampton Jan 3rd 1933, Port Said 14th Jan and left Singapore 4th Feb 1933 for Hong Kong- Don’t know when she arrived Singapore

Small world. Two of the photo’s I have appear to be of that particular incident. It seems my Bill sailed out on the Neralia (not researched it yet)

“He was flying Hawker Horsley torpedo bombers and had some superb photos, including a set of his aircraft dropping too low during a practice torpedo run and the pilot and my dad ending up swimming back to the camera boat with the Horsley’s tail still visible ‘in the drink’ behind them! The photos, including great ones of the MacRobertson air race passing through Singapore, all went to the RAF Museum. They are probably sitting, uncatalogued, in the achives at Hendon.”

Kev.. Sounds like the incident for picture of Horsley S1445 you have…….

This is 44-85505 crashed 10 Sept 1951

SB-17G, 44-85505, 6RCF, Elmendorf AFB, AK, AAC, CBLEFF, 4, Grindle, Fred, USA, AK, 10 Mi SE Talkectna

Crew 7, 1 killed 6 rescued. Quite where Cliff Hudson (see news article) came involved I am not sure (as it was USAAF aircraft) out of Elmendorf – Maybe Jouralists are confusing two separate incidents

Molson has no USAAF ID only

3503 was Civil Reg NX-N40, 3512 was NX-N44 and 3521 (the one found) was NX-N46

Oh dear, Oh dear. The mention of the words Walt Disney, despite the word “former”, in any sentence fills me with forboding

Don’t worry its a family story about a cute little plane called ‘Spity’ and his best friend and side kick called ‘Hurri’ against a naughty foreign plane called ‘Emil’

Throw in a couple of smaltzy forgettable songs… and a collection of soft toys and you have a hit
