Me! Staying 4 days, probably in the University, on the BAES trip. Continuing then to Canada by air and train through the Rockies, should be good.
Was at Oshkosh last year, took many photos but will have extra memory cards this year and expect to take many more, it was simply amazing! That was my first visit to the US of A and it lasted a month.
If we hadn’t jointly stopped Hitler there would eventually have been some ICBMs coming your way from Nazi Europe!
I found this one in the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, Sevierville last year. We only had time for a quick tour round, so I didn’t get any details. Would someone be kind enough to provide some details of this aircraft?
It says “Final LiM” in Polish, if that helps!
I suppose Poland built MiG-15s.
At last! An excuse for me to bring out my 35-year-old photo of what I class as the most beautiful jet airliner yet, although the Comet 4 comes a close second!
Taken in Bahrain in 1968.
It’s a VC10 by the way for anyone who doesn’t already know.
I don’t think so, neal h, I agree with Eric Mc that regardless of the purpose and function, the looks are what count, and only those, so disregard all else.
Isn’t that what you meant, Franck66?
First flights:
De Havilland DH.106 Comet July 27, 1949
Avro Canada C.102 Jetliner August 10, 1949
🙂
De Havilland type numbering
Just to keep the record straight, the DH.98 was the Mosquito, and the Albatross was the DH.91.
The painting shows E2.
Smug smile 🙂
Here you are, Eric Mc . . .
And as far as military aircraft are concerned, in my opinion nothing will ever surpass the Hunter. This one was at Oshkosh, also last year (what is its real identity, BTW).
I agree, Franck66.
This was at Dayton last year.
Thanks very much! I forgot this one.
I am surprised myself at the reasonable quality, considering as I say they were blow-ups from a camera with a standard fixed lens, and they weren’t all printed at the time, so it’s the first time I have seen some of them myself. I’m proud to say that I processed the films myself, which was a very difficult job considering the only cold water available there was hot!
I have a few more from later on in the UK of Vulcans and a Canberra, but I’ll save them for another thread.
We also had liaison trips with the Royal Navy, and they had helicopters too! (HMS Nubian).
We were attached to the Army who had a tame helicopter, out in the sticks at Hamala camp, if anyone has heard of it!
and a BOAC VC-10, one of my favourite aircraft, especially the RAF VC-10 that took me back to the UK after a year in the desert!
